Hey.. I found a great way to style your hair if you're going through the awkward stage. Now, I'm not sure how far into the awkward stage this works, but so far it's worked perfectly for me, where I've had lots of troubles with every other technique tried. It's pretty simple too, but can be some-what time consuming and hard to explain. Basically, all you do is lather your hair in a good amount of moose right after getting out of the shower (try not to to dry your hair at all before putting it in) then take a brush and "slick your hair back". After that, take a hair dryer and blow in a direction so that it makes your hair stay pushed backwards. As you blow dry, either comb backwards or use your fingers to help push your hair backwards. After about 20 minutes, your hair should no longer look slicked and should have quite a bit of volume to it (at least in my case.. I have thick straight hair.. I have no clue what this will do with people with flat/thin/wavy/curly hair..) then take a dab of hair gel and make a part through your hair(try not to part right down the middle though unless you have quite a bit of length.. it can look really bad.) Help push your hair in the direction that you're parting it and apply a bit of gel and/or hairspray underneath your hair to help give it volume) then after that just shake your hair as you apply little amounts of gel where needed. When your done, your hair SHOULD look like it's naturually parted and flowing back as if no product was applied at all, but this takes a lot of time to get this look just right. Sorry if I can't explain this too well, but this is what I found to be the best method for myself. Experiment and try to find what works best for you.. Also, I have no clue what the long term effects that this will have on your hair, but I can't imagine it being too great for it.. Hair dryers, gel, hairspray and constant combing aren't good, but I'm not interested in growing my hair to it's full potential, I just want shoulder-length hair, so any damaged hair will be gone not-too-long after I reach the length I want, and I'm sure I wont have to use as much product as gravity helps hold my hair down. Hope this helps someone..
