Im not being funny but most of the people who post pics on the hyperboard are short hairs. When I go to view images I want to see people who have longhair, people who inspire me to grow my hair longer. The short hairs always post comments that say do you think my hair is the right type or do you think I will look good if I grow it. My attitude is if you wanna grow it, grow it but if not dont. There are many people out there that will tell you to cut your hair, only those with the will power can grow their hair long. May be Im just the one here who feels this way.
Hey man, we were all there once. Take it easy.
Lock me up and throw away the key, I can be held on account for that.
but i do like to see progress pictures of someone where you can see them when they had short hair and now.
I think the start should be as important as the end...
Hi Curly Fries...
Greetings and welcome to the board.. I hope you decided not to cut your hair after all the great advice you received below.. I'm sure in time your hair will return to a manageable state.
Most of the posts you see are from those that are currently on their "journey" to long hair. Obviously we see more progress with short hairs verses long hairs. This could be one reason for the volume of posts from short hairs.
Second; as you stated in your earlier posts.. the beginning of our journey is always the hardest. Thus; its alot better to make more posts and get the kind of support you can depend on from mlhh. I've only been a member for a handful of months; but these guys are great. It is rare to see ANY negative comments made. So; for us short-hairs ... (long hair wannabes) its an absolutely wonderful resource to use and be a part of...
Anyway; good luck with your continuing journey.... mines just begun!
Be Blessed...
Tristan
Here's a pic of me with short hair... a long, looooong time ago....
(I'm the one on the far right, --- the other kids are my older brother on the far left, and my 3 step-brothers.)
Hey, we all had to start our longhair journey SOMEwhere!
- Ken
Awww bless....
Hi again CF,
it is true that we see a lot of pic uploads from shorter haired people but I think that Tristan hit the nail on the head. When people have shorter hair and are growing it out that is when they need the most support, also it is a tad bit more noticeable when your hair grows from 1" long to 2" long as opposed from 12" long to 13" long ;) They post these updates because to them it is very visible and they are proud of their progress so far and they would like the positive reinforcement this board provides. I have only been posting on here for a few months so I may not have seen as much of this as you, but let's just be there and be supportive of them, after all, we started out with short hair too at one point *grin* I hope you have a good day buddy!
Danny
I'm afraid I'll have to go against the weight of responses here and side with curly fries.
The nature of the board has new topics pushing the body of discussion down and when a new thread is opened with someone seeking a length that is:
1- attainable within six months of a very close cut
2- defined within the bounds of mainstream culture such that there are ABUNDANT resources out there for growth styling and maintenance advice-
it pushes more pertinent posts down making them less likely to be read and responded to. Such posts are part of the greater issue of junk threads here- where the main topic of men's long hair gets severely watered down.
I do think that for the most part, a fairly agreeable balance has been struck- knowing human nature it's inevitable that many people will creatively interpret the greater theme of this site to fit their agenda.
Hi curly fries,
Just a reminder, long hair does not grow instantly. It would be nice if we could all wake up in the morning and be suddenly blessed with a long glorious mane, but sadly, that does not happen. That is why we encourage everyone to post pictures, so we can encourage them to grow it longer. It is true that some members join when their hair is already long, but there are others who are embarking on this adventure for the first time.
The purpose of our community is to support EVERYONE's long hair journey, whether staring out from very short hair and growing it out for the first time, or already having long hair and seeking the support and guidance in continuing to grow and care for long hair.
Hope this helps,
David

I'm not tired of the short hairs...well, I am actually. Of the really, short haired I mean. Meduim hair is fine, you can actually notice more progress month by month (awkward stage, does more stuff). But I don't like seeing someone go from a buzz cut, and the next month...my god its a buzz cut again! What I'm really tired of on this board, is all the Women. I mean, its Men's Long hair Hyperboard, its not a damn fan club. If you like long hair fine, but we don't need an introduction, posts etc. One or two I'm fine with, specially if the girl is also growing her hair out, at least she can relate to some extent. But most of the girls that sign up here already have (extremely) long hair and always have, they don't relate to us in any way and are only here to gawk. Annoying.
Strange, I find that the ladies offer support and encouragement from a different perspective. I have no issue whatsoever with the female element offering their comments, support, etc. to us. In fact, I find it rather refreshing in their support of our efforts. And I don't think they are here to "gawk"; no offense, but most of us here are nothing to "gawk" at; we are just normal everyday guys who are growing out their hair.
.
the only reasons theres guys pretending to be girls on here is this:
On the internet in general, being a female has many perks. Because of the far smaller ratio of females to males these guys who get no female attention in real life feel the need to be extra nice to females.
No matter how fat, no matter how annoying, no matter how stupid, how slutty, a girl on the internet is, there will be a tribe of male virgins to defend her from any real or perceived slight. This will in each and every way lead to drama, either through swarm attacks on any outsider who attempts to pop the evergrowing female ego, or the never-ending infighting as the virgin tribe attempt to win e-favor with whatever bluberous cakemonster the've barnacle'd themselves upon.
this is why i never post in threads started by a "female" threads where the main poster is "female"
To say that there are no girls on the internet is a very ignorant statement, to say the least.

there are guys on here pretending to be girls? who are they? i am a real and true girl and i have the boobs to prove it. (and i'm not scared to prove it.)
plus i find that somewhat humorous coming from someone who wants plastic surgery to 'trick' guys into thinking you are a chick.
Hey how do we know the boobs weren't plastic surgery too ;) Maybe a real close up picture would eliminate the doubt lol (just kidding, well kind of sort ..)
You are so right about the "trap" comment nic, there must be a connection between this thread and that. I think you're on to something.
aaahhh... chrisg. if i were going to get fake boobs, i doubt they would be this small. but you know what they say, 'you don't need more than a handful.' :)
I agree George, I support all who support longhair, regardless of gender! The different perspective is very enjoyable as well. I probably would enjoy it all the more if I were handsome enough to be a victim of all that gawking :)
.... it's so nice to know that there are women on this planet that do appreciate amen with long hair. And what better place than here to see that!
Bruce
...they don't relate to us in any way and are only here to gawk.
You sure women can't relate to discrimination and wanting to be treated respectfully?
Elizabeth
I want to be gawked at. Please gawk at me. I live for being gawked at. right now, there's nothing to gawk over, but someday maybe there will be. There are looks right now but no gawking. Looks are okay but what I really want is the gawk. Not just any gawk but the Big Gawk.
A few weeks ago I was in Calif. and what bummed me out was that there was no gawking at all. I guess I have to move to Nebraska, except there, the gawking might be followed by violence. No thanks. Meanwhile, in California, you could wear chain male with a Little Bo Peep outfit of woven flashing LEDs, and spike your hair into Statue of Liberty spikes, and hold a torch and no one would gawk. you could levitate stuff and everyone would just ask if this is the new iLev.
I think someone on here is pissed off at not being gawked at.
Well, We all start from short hair. When one grows out hair for the first time, They face many obstacles. Peoples negative comments, Misguidance, Lack of hair care knowledge etc... This community provides all the right answers and support. Honestly, If it wasn't for this awesome community, I wouldn't have made it this far.
Well, I´m one of the short haired guys, and I´ve been here for like 5 months now. All I can say is that maybe I wouldn´t have grown my hair for this long if it wasn´t for all the supportive people here on mlhh. I think for you long hairs, it´s great if more people can be inspired to grow their hair. Sure, there might be a short haired boom at the moment, but maybe in a few years there will be a long haired boom instead from all the people that got inspiration and support from here.
It's at terminal length. Do you really want to see pics of that same mane over and over?
(Click on my avatar if you really do.)
I enjoy seeing the photos of the new guys and their exuberance that goes along with posting them.
Bill
I agree, Bill. When a person on the path to long-hair posts it reminds me of the times when I had long hair. It also makes me reflect on my current journey to long hair (again). Sometimes the poster's exuberance helps me out of a rough wanna-cut-it-off time. IOW, it's all good. :-)

I do agree with you that there are a lot of short hairs here (including me). But if you ask anyone, it's tough with today's pressures and this is a nice sanctuary from all that, so for anyone who's having a tough time you could try to keep the "biting comments" to a minimum. OK? I do understand your point about the large number of "will my hair look good if I grow it" posts and I -- as well -- do find them slightly annoying, but there's been many an instance where I've thought about posting only to decide not to, in case of a "Shut up!" return (that was early on, when my hair was really short and I was new). So even though you don't really like 'em, give those posts a little bit of support, if not for their length (or your percieved lack therof) then for their enthusiasm. They love their hair! And who knows, maybe something crazy might happen and you'll lose your locks, and then _you'll_ be one of the short hairs . . . What would your opinion be then?
Welcome to the board Dinoman! I don't remember seeing you before but I have not always been on so I might have missed you. Congratulations on growing out your hair, a wise choice :) It is looking good so far, soon you too can enjoy the awkward phase lol
Dinoman, interesting nickname, are you a paleontologist or something?
Thanks for the welcome, I've posted a few times but not much. About the hair, just did a short 6 month update, but it was kinda small (I hate taking up space . . .) Being only 17, I'm not a paleontologist . . . yet! Nice that you caught it, most people say d-ee-noman, and then don't get it!
Auf Wiedersehen,
-Christian Epp
