i decided to start growing my hair long a lil while back, before that i had hair down below my eyes, but it was very puffy, because my hair is wavy. my hair was looking a bit afro-esque, but it was loose, and wavy, but puffy none the less, im sure it will take me a little time to get it long, but i was wondering if i need to do anything for long hair, with my wavy hair, will it work out if i just let it grow? do i need to work with straightening it or something? any help and responces are appreciated, thank you =)
(and if someone else has used this name, im sorry, but if they have, please note this is not them)
Maybe I can help. I too have thick wavy hair. I have been growing it out from a buzz for almost 2 years. It now is all one length to my shoulders. The 1st 12 months wasn't easy. Like you said, my hair would get poofy and unmanageable. I reccomend using lots of gel to slick it back or at least make it look more tame. As it grows longer, you will notice that your hair will lie down and the curls will relax, this is just from it's own weight. I too thought about relaxing or starightening my hair, but now realize that would have been a BIG mistake, for these things damage your hair. After achieving pony-tail length, your hair control problems will be history. Be patient, the waves and curls will look GREAT after gaining some length. I still have a ways to go, but I'm looking forward to it. I hope this helps.
yea it helps, thanks for the imput, i dont wanna straighten it with chemicals, because i read some of the Warnings on those things, and i said to myself, no way in hell am i gonna take the chance of loosin my hair...but i used gel before i cut it, i shoulda never cut it, it would be practically 8 inches by now, but ahhh well i cut it short to spike it and all, wutcha gonna do? lol...well anyway, thanks :)
oh and sorry i forgot to put this in the last one, but how long did it take u to grow ur hair long? i mean at least shoulder, chin length? i started mine from pretty short without cutting, so if u could give me like a time frame like 6inches=6months or something, it would be greatly appreciated :)
sorry for the double post
It may be closer to 12 months = 6 inches, depending on your growth rate.
aight cool, thnx (i just used the 6months=6inches for an example :) )
It lays down assuming you have soft hair, once it gets long. If you have coarse hair thats curly or wavy it will never lay down, it will just look stupid. I envy you, soft wavy hair would be my prefered type.
