This is my first post here, but I have found this site to be a wealth of information since I started growing out my hair 2 years ago. Hello everyone!
My hair is now well past shoulder length- the sides and front are about 1 1/2 inches shorter than the back, but it's more even that it was, since I had it barely trimmed (split ends) about a month ago. It falls to my upper back.
When I got the split ends cut off, the stylist barely trimmed it, but she only did it to the back and the strands that fall behind my ears. I told her to just take the unhealthy parts off, and she did- but she didn't touch the front strands. My girlfriend was looking at my hair the other day and she said there are split ends on the front strands- they aren't terrible to me, but I don't want further damage.
I can pull it all back in a low ponytail without any falling out as of about a 6-7 weeks go ago, and I just wondered if I should let it grow more before my next maintenence. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I will upload some pics by next week too.. I love my long hair!
Thanks
James
Welcome
Yes you should indeed let it growth for about another six months without even thing of hair and scissors in the same breath so to speak.
When you have a long term safe tail you can then think about losing half an inch.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice, UK.
First, welcome to the board. It's good it has helped you throughout your growth journey and I'm looking forward to see your pics soon! Don't worry about the split ends. Actually, if they're not big why not cut them? I mean just be careful not to lose length.
