(warning , there be short hair here those of you who hate it)
when i went on holiday in January, I got my hair cut very short, then I didn't get it cut again until May, i just want to knwo if the growth that occured in that time is slow as i have been told. will it grow this slow again this time?
(sorry about the short pics, but it is a serious question...
They're the wrong way round by the way
Wow, thats an incredibly slow growth rate. As far as I know your hair growth rate will stay at essentially a constant rate throughout your life- except of course if you are very old. So yes, in all probability your hair will grow this slow again. You're in for a long hull.
My hair on the may photo isn't quite a sbad as it seems, but it's the only one i've got.
i have quite a bit of hair tucked away behing my ears you can't see.
But this is still worring to me...
Nutrition and health can play a big role. Take a look at your diet and make sure it's well balanced including lots of fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Others here know a lot more about what constitutes a "hair healthy" diet and perhaps they'll chime in as well.

water. proteins. water. amino acids. did i mention water?
i don't think this is too bad. it was only four months of growth and he had it trimmed. he gained at least two inches before the cut, so that's a pretty decent growth rate.
to beanz - is there a reason you had it cut again? if you ar wanting it long, then you should only cut it to get rid of any split ends you may devolop. the exception being if you get to an extremely awkward phase where the correct cut could disguise that but keep the length there. but i think you've got a great head of hair goin' on!
To be honest, i don't really know why i got it cut again, i think i was a bit spontaneous in that decision, i regretted it straight away, when i realised i had just added about 5 months onto my growth time...
Sorry to tell you this, but from January to May is a LONG time period. 4 months to be exact.
When I hit my 4th mark before getting it trimmed (forced!), my hair would cover my ears and the bangs would be up to my eyes and covers my brows.
Judging from the pics, the difference in length would be 1 month after the cut, not 4. Which is strange...
Like the other poster said, that is indeed a ridiculously SLOW growth-rate.
Sorry, man. But I had to say the truth. And now I feel selfish for thinking MY hair grows at a slow rate. :S
Yeah, i though that as well, it was even commented on by people at school and my dad.
This time however, my hair seems to be growing much faster, so i've gone from worrying if it will be as slow again, to why it was so slow then.
I'm confusing myself...
Maybe it will grow faster. I personally don't believe that hair length increases in the summer but who knows? Keep us updated and never cut it, not even trimming it! I hate trimming now for obvious reasons, Haha...
What's your goal length, btw?
Mid-back, always been an admirer of people with it at that length, any longer seems to obsessive, any shorter isn't obsessive enough.
Though if this is anyhting to go by, i'll have to wait a long time...
Hey Beanz!
Don't worry so much man! Getting and having long hair is a long term project. You've got a lifetime ahead of you. You appear to be a healthy young man. It's possible you have a slower than average growth rate. Average is about half an inch (12 mm) each month. So, six months may only get you three inches (7.5 cm). At this stage of the game, you should just stay away from any kind of trims or cuts for the next year. And just don't think about it. Thinking about it won't make it grow any faster. If someone makes a comment, tell them you're letting it grow for religious reasons. ;P

Hey Beanz,
Based on the pics I don't think your hair grows too slowly my guess is you might get slightly under a half inch a month but like others have said it's a long term thing.
I was wondering have you talked about your plans with friends relatives? What do your parents think? Dealing with the anti longhairs can be a challenge, But that's why we're here to offer support and advice. Otherwise you look to have thick healthy hair and will make a great longhair.
Cheers
Kevin
My mums fine about it, I haven't discussed it with my dad (parents divorced) And a reletive i mentioned it to laughed at me.
I don't want to inform my friends, rather let them notice...
