NYC Columbus Circle Whole Foods
Around here nobody seems to care how anyone looks in most grocery/retail stores. I think they'll hire anybody pretty much.
Several longhairs in the Arlington, Texas store, too. Same for the nearby Home Depot too.

I live in Arlington, but am out of town for several more months.
Let's meet up sometime when I get back.

Always nice to hear, but really, I think the notion of stores not hiring longhairs or asking them to cut their hair is mostly overrated. Sure, I know it happens at some places, but I honestly see plenty of longhairs at many places I shop. An assistant manager at Blockbuster Video when I worked there had mid-back length hair, there's a guy at my local Borders Books with just-pass-shoulder length hair that is pretty thick, and I've seen a few shoulder-length (straight and shaggy) haired guys working at Target.
My local Wal-Mart has always been longhair friendly, several working there, a couple of guys with hair between mid back and waist (one with a ponytail, the other, loose). Also, I have seen longhaired men in my local Sobey's and Superstores as well. (2 major grocery chains in Atlantic Canada)

I visit the Union Square Whole FOods a lot didn't really notice any long hairs working there. Don't go to the Colombus Circle one that often.
Generally because supermarkets will take on anyone to fill a gap... I worked at a small shop and this girl in my college class who is really fat and stinks worked there too. I don't mean to be mean to her but it is a good example lol. Not saying that long haired people are fat and smelly though..haha i'll shut up now!
Thats is very shallow thinking DaPs.
I go to WholeFoods at 14th and P in DC and on Duke St in Alexandria, VA. There is also one in Fairfax, VA, but that would be a long way out of my way. They have plenty of guys there with long hair, including some who are obviously management. With the product line that they sell I think they are actively seeking us as customers. When you think of tofu and hummus you don't think of short haired drones.
Re DavidN's comment, WalMart has a policy of allowing long hair, so it's not all bad, despite other things that may be wrong with them. OTOH, I'm not sure how many long haired managers they have? Perhaps someone here knows?
We have a W.F. around here but it's just a bit too far away for me to want to drive to it. I've been wishing they would open one closer but then it occurred to me that if they were to do that, it might put a couple of local independent stores out of business and I'd hate to see that. I've heard that United Parcel Service has a pretty strict shave and haircut policy, at least for their people who deliver, but that was awhile ago and I don't know if it has changed or not.
I tend to see more longhairs when I shop at Whole Foods or other co-ops in my area. I know I've seen longhairs at the regular grocery stores, so I doubt there's some sort of discriminatory policy against it. Perhaps more longhairs are simply drawn to jobs at "natural food" stores.
