does thick hair take longer to grow?
many people said the akward phase is hard... does that mean that it will take longer? depending on my last post picture, how many more months do you think it will take me to grow up to my shoulders?
The average hair growth rate is one-half of an inch per month. Ones hair thickness does not alter the growth rate. It may appear to be growing slower merely because of its thickness and volume. Thick hair, Especially curly, requires more time to look longer. Why? Because of its rebelliousness. It tends to get poofy at first. You must wait until it gets long enough to weigh itself down. Just have patience.
My hair is fine, but grows thick and is quite straight so that goes straight to the floor.
The appearence of it's length depends on:
Texture - Fine/Medium/Coarse
And hair type: Straight/Wavy/Curly
Hello,
i have really thick hair (really !) and it growns very quickly but the akward stage take longer and can be harder for some persons (me...)
but when it's long it's the best hair of the world :p

My hair journal
Hey. Look at my avatar - my hair is a LOT curlier than yours, but it's growing downwards. When my hair was in the awkward stage, it grew upwards like an afro instead of down. Your hair will probably do the same until the hair strands get too heavy to grow upward any longer and drop or "fall," meaning that they're growing downwards.
In other words, just keep growing your hair. For a few months, maybe even a year, it'll be messy, but after that, your hair will be growing downwards, and it'll look great. You can get shoulder-length hair in probably a year and a couple months.
Hope that helps.
Peace
my hair is also very thick and it grows at the normal rate of around half an inch a month. The awkward may be more troublesome i guess as thick hair will not do what it is supposed to, but I enjoyed that hair randomness - and still do!!
Good luck to you for your future growing.
define thick hair.
A. More hair folicles per sq. centimeter than average.
B. Strands of hair that are of larger than average diameter.
C. Both.
Pick one.

Seems to me it shouldn't take longer. High density of folicles shouldn't indicate slow growth rate. This isn't based on anything other than my intuition so take it with a grain of salt. However, it could be an indication of rapid growth, based on the general case that as we age, rate of growth declines with density of folicles. So perhaps the opposite is true? that with high density you should have higher growth rate, or at least average?
If your hair curls around the length may not be very obvious because your hair will tend to stay up at your head for awhile curling around.
Absolutely not. There's no connection between hair's thickness and it growth rate. I know people with thick fast growing hair and thick slow growing hair and also people with fine fast or slow growing hair. It depends on your genetics.
Judging on your last avatar it could take up to a year to reach soulder length. It could be less since I don't what you're growth rate and also in the awkward stage true length is nto visible.
