its been around 1.4yrs since growing my hair if you remember a while ago i posted pics its curly , and thick. problem is i have to go on job interviews n such n i feel like a complete mess. i cant control my curls i cant control my hair its unruling. im barly not able to make a half pony tail yet a full pony tail urrrgh forget it. any1 with curly hair know any tips to nice styles are getting the curls under control? cause last job interview i had didnt go so good the lady was just looking at the hair the whole time with her mouth open never the less the interview went very fast n i didnt get the job.
Maybe the problem is more like where you're interviewing. Tell us what kind of job you interviewed for; what sort of job you are looking for. I have a feeling that if you're getting slack-jawed gaping you're not interviewing in the right place.
Robthehitman,
Here is what you do: Go to a so called drug store and look in the hair styling section, and you will see some devices mfg. by "goody" or another company called rollers. Buy about 24 of them in velcro 1 1/2" size, and a package of steel hair clips. Keep in mind that these are tools, like wrenches and plyers, and they do not have gender, though many men think they are feminine. When you hair is wet, take a section 1" x 2" and place the ends of your hair on this device, rolling it away from your face. When it comes down to your scalp, fasten it by putting on of the clips on the bottom of the device so that it is secured in place. Finish the rest of your hair in this way. It does not have to be completely even and neat to work. Then sit under a fan doing your home work, reading the newspaper, or writing the great American novel for about an hour. Then remove the devices, and you will discover that your curly hair has been almost completely straightened, with no use of chemicals. This will enable you to comb it into a managable style or put it into a pony tail.
Because of the narrow mindedness of the general public you will not likely want to go in public with your hair in these devices. But that is not for me to decide.
Many guys have girl friends, wives, sisters and mothers who are adept, even happy mechanics, to assist with these tools.
Once your hair is 18" or longer you can tie it back into a tail, but even then for formal wear you have learned how to straighten your hair without chemicals.
Some guys are even hesitant to purchase such tools for fear they will be called... Never fear. Clerks in stores do not know why you are buying anything, and frankly they do not care. They are only concerned about when their shift ends, and whether you are civil to them.
I could never have been able to grow my hair without this strategy. Since I spend several hours a day reading, and do not have to face my public at 8:00 AM this has been possible for me.
If there is no one to help you with this, and you do not want to experiment alone, go to a local hair styling saloon and tell the staff person who greets you that you are growing out your hair and that you need a roller set to get you past this awkward stage, and for about $15. they will happily accomodate you. Remember, in the US, gender discrimination is illegal, and most hair stylist think nothing of this crossing of the foolish gender barrier, for which they have no respect either.

Oldschool Rollers i like it , sometimes you its so simple you dont even think of theese things. this sounds like a good idea and i will try it ty very much . and for the post below me i go to any job any where i ask for appliciants n just go resteraunts , gas stations , cholthing shops , the place i got the gawk look was at a western union place where i wudda been delerving packages.
Just curious, won't rolling the hair away from the scalp for an hour make all the hair curl outwards?
Paradoxily, rolling hair on larger rollers will make it straight, and it will lie down. It hair is very dry, it may require a little of your oil of choice.

Don't give up just cause of a few interviews keep plugging away at it . Maybe see a stylist and ask for some ideas on styling it to lool better for an interview. We can suggest Gels and hair spray etc. etc. but a stylist can play around with your hair and come up with some ideas.
