but is the 6 month point where dandruff starts to occur? just this morning i had flakes in my hair and tryed combing it out. i felt grossed out. anyways any tips on how to get rid of dandruff?
In answer to your above question, dandruff is a completely separate problem from your hair having grown 5 months, --- in other words, the two have nothing to do with each other!
I am in no way an "expert" on the topic of dandruff; but I will certainly share my own experience on the topic...
When I was still in my teens and early 20s, I used to have occasional dandruff problems. A good-quality shampoo, whether specifically labelled to help cure dandruff or not, helps greatly. Also, use your finger tips (NOT you nails) to vigorously massage in the lather while shampooing, --- and RINSE OUT THE SOAP VERY, VERY THOROUGHLY!!!!!
If you're like me, you probably use a ton of conditioner on your long hair. I tend to ONLY apply the conditioner to my hair, --- especially the lower portion of my hair (but NEVER on my scalp).
My scalp has been dandruff-free for years, --- so my guess is that I must be doing SOMEthing right (lol)!!
I also am a big advocate of brushing my hair when dry. I start with untangling the ends, first, then eventually work my way down the full length of my mane, from scalp to tips in long, smooth strokes. This stimulates the scalp, bringing blood to the surface to help nourish the hair roots, --- as well as brings the natural oils down the hair shaft towards the ends (where it needs it most). It also just plain feels GREAT!!
As I already said earlier, I don't claim to be an expert on the topic of dandruff. Maybe there'll be some others here who know more and can share other info in addition to what I just said. But, for sure I can say this one thing: your 6 months of growth has absolutely NOTHING to do with your dandruff! Dandruff can happen to short-hairs just as easily as to longhairs. If nothing else, try my above suggestions, and see if they don't at least help and improve things to some degree at least, --- they did for me, anyway!
