I have had long hair for ten years now, and I have enjoyed alomost every minute of it. I have fought long and hard against the powers that seek to keep my hair "nice and short". But, I am honestly thinking about cutting it simply because it would be so much easier to live with.
My question is, do any of you have any advice for me in this area. I can't even hardly imagine life with short hair, or what my silly ass would like then.
Any sort of advice would be helpful.
thanks.
B-Train...how long is your hair now...do you trim it on a regular basis? Sometimes just a good trim without cutting too much length can satisfy. The pain of regret can be worse than you think...let us know what you decide...and then, of course, there is the "Two Week" rule which, I am sure, you familiar with.
Another question you should ask yourself is what do YOU want. Not
others. Long hair is something you do for yourself. The opinion of
others should mean nothing when it comes to your hair. So if its
other people who are making you wonder then you have nothing to think
about. If its you yourself who is wondering, then its your decision,
but please use the two week rule at least!
My suggestion...don't do it. I had hair down to my waist, it was cut
after I suffered a stroke in November of 98. To this day I regret losing it and vow to grow it back. Instead of going with two week
rule, make it two months.
I agree! 2 months is even better!
I was thinking of cutting mine off last year. I still don't know why I had the thought. Part of it was me wanting a "change" and part of it was that women said I would look nice with short hair. I couldn't decide on a short haircut, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to cut it all off! I decide to cut it to just below the shoulders instead. My hair was mid-back. I have had long hair for about 10 years also. Well, I am glad I didn't cut it all off, because I had instance regret! I still get upset everyday when I think about the fact that I almost cut it short! So, please take the time to think about this decision. Hair will grow back, but it takes a long time! I know that hair has nothing to do regarding what kind of person you are, but you could regret cutting it, and this could make you sad for sometime.
Good Luck!

Hi B-Train,
Of course, when you ask us longhairs here, our advice will be synchronised: KEEP GROWING!
But ultimately, it boils down to your own decision. Ask yourself why did you grow long hair in the first place? I'm sure it wasn't due to a moment of impetuousness as that moment wouldn't last for 10 long years. There must be certain identity and desire in you for wanting long hair.
Now that you've decided to chop it all off, no one can stop you from doing that. Just remember that it is definitely silly to chop it off due to peer pressure, colleague's pressure, self pressure and worse, the notion of getting "sick" of your own long hair.
Take 2 weeks off, think about it, before making that decision which would inevitably affect your life.
Heck, after ten years the two week rule is totally inadequate. Make it a one month rule!
