Hey Brothers: It's been awhile since my last post or log'on. Hope all is well with all of you. Won't bore you with the details of my absence but thought I'd jump back into the mix with a pic taken today after a day at the beach. It has been 23mo now and I'm still going strong. Dig the mini-braids compliments of my neice. Hope to attach a few beads to complets the look.
B-URSLF - The Bruce'ster
Yeah, I have a total of 6 neices myself, --- and I can tell you stories about each one of them, at one time or another, playing or doing something with my hair... in fact, it was through one of my nieces that I found out about an inverted ponytail (AKA "loop-through" or "topsy-turvy' or some name like that - lol).... Neices are great!
Your hair is looking hands-down AWE-INSPIRING, --- not to also mention the wonderful tan!!
Glad to see you back here, Bruce'ster!
- Ken
Thanks Ken: Yeah, you should see HER hair. Thick, curly and long! My only "complaint" is she put little rubber bands on the ends (from her retainer - yuk) and they are really tight. Guess I'll (carefully) cut em' off when I take out the braids. CAIO - B.
Hey Bruce'ster,
It is WONDERFUL to see you again, welcome back!!! Your hair is looking great, your natural colour is awesome, and the mini braids done by your niece are WAY cool! Soon you will be wearing a long, thick braid down your back. Keep everything growin' and my best to you.
Take care,
David
Hey David: Well, it's good to be back. And how are YOU doin' and how's the lab work? My "long" absence gives me some perspective on my hair growth. In looking at my avatar I see a big difference, even though I thought it was "long" then, it's really getting long now. The braid thing has been fun and perfect for my vacation to the Outer Banks. Now that I'm back in "civilized" society I'm getting a few stares. I can only imagine what people are thinking...but we've all been down that road before, right. Who the HECK cares!!! Later Gator - Bruce'ster
Hi Bruce'ster,
That is just SO cool, that you have noticed such a difference in your hair length over the past few months, and are experimenting with braids. I even tried my first ever braid a month or so back but it WAS more a joke than anything else. The lab work is coming along very well indeed, but I am REALLY looking to putting the lab work behind me and retiring next year, only 401 days to go now, not that I am counting or anything, lol! i can't wait for my road trip in the spring of 2009! A lot has gone on with me these days, including a house sale, etc., that have reduced stress levels tremendously.
And I agree with you about our long hair journeys, regardless of what people say, WHO CARES, just let 'er grow!!! (Also, one of the guys in my golf foursome is growing his hair, he has SUPER fast growing hair, and it is nearly as long as mine with only 18 months of growth, even though he trims once a month.)
Take care, my friend,
David
(I just sent you an email a half hour ago, before I read your response to my reply, it is just a welcome back email, as you have been MISSED around here! You are a VERY cool addition to the hyperboard)
Ha, you look like such an island surfer in that pic! That's a brilliant look for you (or just about anyone - I confess to being a closet surf bum sometimes). With the white hair, it just goes to show that life is meant to be enjoyed at all ages.
But I didn't realize your hair was so straight. Was it always, or is this some consequence of bathing in the ocean, or what?
Keep it growing, man!
And, yes, we all need to be ourselves.
Hey Brah - Yeah, the salt and sun dry it out and straighten it somewhat around the sides mostly. As for the age thing...I'm 51 and lovin' and livin' life with gusto! Thanks for the island surfer vibes. I'm an old school longboarder still riding my 10.0 Santa Cruz Scofield Classic. Later - B'ster
Ha, I love the word "brah"....Hawaiian slang rules.
Awesome, I didn't know you actually rode. Man, I've got to learn someday. All I do is skateboard right now, but I've wanted to surf and snowboard ever since I was a little kid. I might be going for basic surfing lessons this fall if I'm lucky. I've never been on either, but I always got the idea that shortboards give you more control on the wave. I don't know; they just look like they do.
Peace, man.
Whats up brother! It's been a while man! Your presence was definitely missed around here. I can see your hair is still on your head and looking awesome. Congrats my man for growin' the rhino skin and toughing it out for so long. In my book, You are officially a long hair now. Hey, Great mini braids too man! Well, Bruce, It was great hearing from you again man. Keep in touch .
Hey Chris'meister! Thanks Bro, I'm sure feeling like an official long hair these days. I was checking out my avatar and the hair sure looks better now. Still really curls when dry. When wet it's past the collar bones an inch or more on the sides and WAY long in back. Feels great on the shoulders. Anyhow, thanks for the warm welcome. Nice to know I was missed. Take is slow, bro.

Hi Bruce,
Good to see you back. I had wondered the other day where you were. Really, I figured as a teacher when school let out you needed plenty of time to decompress. I like the braids and may try this one day soon.
It's good to see you enjoying yourself this summer. Which coast do you live on? I ruled out the Gulf of Mexico for surfing since it's so calm sometimes you can water-ski on it in some places.
Bragi
Hey Bragi: Yeah, I'm decompressing for sure. Have been on a year-round schedule for the last 5 years and just returned to traditional. I'm loving this LONG summer once again. I live in Eastern N.C. and am near the Outer Banks. Depending on the swell, of course, we get fairly decent waves here. Not as many "spots" to go locally as there were in San Diego but I'm not complaining. It's all about fun; wind, water, waves, sun, the local wahinis, and getting back to the "source." Guess you could say I'm a "soul surfer." Enjoy your summer my man. Bruce'ster
Wow! Looks so distinctive and seems to fit you ever so well. Best of wishes to you with that fabulous mane. You have something to be mighty proud of.
Yo Justin. How you been? Thanks for the positive remarks. It is distinctive, especially w/ the braids. Wore it this way to the local java joint today and got a few side glances! "Hey, You looking at Me?" Ha Ha - Peace man - B.
I think the mini braids look fantastic, the mustache is a nice addition and needless to say, White Tail loves the colour !!
Thanks for Sharing

"...Hey WWT: How's the heat out there in the desert?..."
Temperatures are forecast for 127 tomorrow in Death Valley (next valley over from me)...fortunately, this summer I am working nights)
"...What's doin' under your hat these days?..."
Lots of "shiny" under the hat ! HA!
Thanks for asking
WWT
I think beads would be cool in the mini-braids. Even without them though, your hair looks awesome!
Mouse
Hi Mouse: Thanks, and your "new" avatar is looking quite nice. How's your hair journey going? Bruce'ster
The hair keeps getting longer, so I'd say things are going well. I'll be posting my 1-year update in a week or two.
Mouse
Dude, that's one of my favorite photos I've seen of you. The little braids add a really cool touch.
Thanks J' - It's definately wierd wearing those braids in public; esp. in this small, southern, dare I say conservative town. But as you can see I'm not waiting around for anyone's approval! LOL - Long Hair for Life - Bruce'ster
Hey there Brucester, your hair looks magnificent, its really looking very cool indeed. The braids are great, mine seems to ringlet and almost 'dread' itself naturally now, which is fun, but a pain to un-knot.
Good to have you back, take care, Dave
Hello Dave: Thanks man. I'm enjoying the length this summer and the braids too. I've never really had tight curls like you. In the back it's still really curly but the sides still frizz more. These braids take care of some of that. I've only had them in about 3 days now but they "wash and wear" pretty well. Good to be back - Bruce'ster
Hi Bruce, or El Duderino as i prefer,
your looking good man, i too have been abscent for a while, but hey , thats life, will be doing my 9 month update next week.Hope life is ok Bruce, i notice you still have not changed that avatar picture, you look years younger now dude, all the best Jonny H.
Hey John'O: What's up bud? Good to hear from you. Yes, life has a way of getting your attention; sometimes when you least expect your heading in a new direction and holding tightly to the reins! I'm doing great and it's good to be back. Thanks for the comments. LOVE the nickname and yes, I was looking at that old Avatar and thinking I need to update it FOR SURE. Looking forward to your update brother. Happy Holiday. El D'ster.
