Hello guys,
After David showed me how to post pictures, I'm gonna start posting regularly too share my progress with you.
I've been a lurker for some time now, but I decided to come out to light and post too.
I've been growing my hair since Aug 06, but I had several trims that cut back months of growing, the last one was on Jan 07, then I met this post and the "do not cut it" advise was what I needed to hear.
So, I decided to grow my hair, goal?... shoulder length. I'm posting some pics and a few questions for those more experienced.
Thats me, recently shower, hair finger combed backwards
This is how it look on the back.
Combed to the back, still wet.
A half tail, wet hair. I like the Half Tail Style pretty much.
Another shot, it will be my avatar since I sent a request to the Directory of Users :)
Now, it looks great wet, but what happens when it dries?... It goes puff as a poodle!!! Take a look at this.
Puffed!
Look at the back, what can I do with it?. I tried a half tail
But still doesn't feels right!.
Any suggestions on keeping the hair as it looks when its wet?.
I'm washing my hair daily since I use Gel when wearing the Pony Tail to go to work. But to be honest, I'm getting tired of using Gel!.
Any Comments or Suggestions will be highly appreciated!.

Welcome !
Wow, what a thick mane ! The color is superb !
I don't have any idea about your "problem". I used gel too during first months of growth, but it was just to keep my hair away from my face. Sorry.
Bye
Vivien
Your hair looks awesome when it dries.
Either keep a bottle of spray water with you or use wet look gel. Wet look gel as it's name will keep your hair looking wet.
Hi again, Restav,
I am delighted that my little "tutorial" worked for you, so that could share a full update with us, as well as post multiple pictures.
Your hair is growing very well for 11 months of growth and looks wonderful, considering that you have had several trims along the way. Don't worry about the "poofiness" for now, it is part of the "awkward phase" that all of us go through as we grow our hair long. As your hair gets longer, gravity will take over, causing your hair to become better behaved. Keep up the great growth!
All the best,
David
David,
Your small tutorial worked great as you can see!.
Yes, I had the fantasy that with more grow, perhaps 4 or 5 cms more it will get down and become more easy to handle. I'm not cutting it anymore until I reach shoulder length!.

Awesome hair, man. Suits you quite well, in my opinion. I quite like the half-tail; it's still short, but elegant, nonetheless.
I'm surprised the others didn't address what your problem might be. Washing (well, shampooing, to be specific) strips your scalp of its oils, thereby drying it significantly. That's why most people don't wash their hair EVERY day unless absolutely necessary to keep back the greasiness. Most people that need to do that have very straight hair, which isn't the case with you. I suggest you try shampooing your hair once every couple of days. Experiment with the number of days, and try washing with only conditioner on some of those days. Try applying jojaba oil to the tips of your hair after shampoos; it can work wonders. If you can't get that, try olive oil, or virtually any natural oil, really. You may apply it to the tips or run it through your hair; if you like the latter, you can also try doing it in the shower and rinsing it out afterwards, which ought to leave your hair the epitome of health and shine.
Remember, also, to be gentle with your hair when it's wet, as it's most fragile then.
And, as was said, the awkward stage is named appropriately. Just stick through it, experimenting with your hair, and you'll end up with a routine that works for you. By then, your hair will be longer, and hopefully less of a hassle.
Keep it growing, dude.
Peace
Yes, I really love the half tail.
I'm gonna try the not shampooing EVERY day, never heard of washing it only with conditioner, it might be a good idea. You hit the spot on the dry ends, I'll try to get some oil for it. In summary, thank you very much for your response, I'm gonna keep experiment a few things and post my progress.

I like that look actually. It suits your face.
Try hair spray...stop using gel, it wrecks your hair.
Very nice shoot and progress. Hiyas.
Hi Restav, I am glad to see you make a post of yourself. These are some good photographs. I like your black hair, and it is a cool beard that you have too.
I hate using gel too. I am quite sure that everyone gets tired of me preaching about leave-in conditioner, but it works for me just as good as gel almost and is actually good for your hair - it does not dry it out so. While gel will hold your hair in place through wind and such, for me the price of using it is too high. By six months, when I used it all the time, I would have tangly, rough, dry ends. Now, after almost a year of not using gel, it has been 14 months since I had any trimming with no real tangling problem at the ends. But, all that said, at your length, it will be hard to do the half-style without the assistance of gel. But, you might want to give a leave-in conditioner a try and see what happens.
Hey Restav, Great update!
You are blessed with thick shiny hair.
Looking forward to more updates.
...Restav, you're off to a good start. I think the others have covered your questions quite well. Good advice! I'm glad you've decided to stop trimming. Gravity, good, Scissors, not good. Just let it grow and gravity will do its' thing.
Keep it growin'

With hair like the past photo, I have no sympathy for you.
Hair is a religious thing.
It is an affirmation of personal freedom.
For most it is also an affirmation of justice.
And more...
Remember SS. Samuel, Elisha, ELijah, brother Sampson & SS David, Absolom, Amos, Hosea, Micah & Joel, Jesus & The Beatles. They have liberated us from trivial and tribal conformity and helped us find the freedom to be ourselves and given us the strength to protect you from the conformity police.
My hair is my profession of faith, and anyone who touches my head withour my permission has violated my religious or spiritual space.
Sunsilk makes an "Anti-Poof" creme that I find helpful for stopping hair from expanding as it dries. It's dirt cheap and it works!
