After all the accolades of people saying how happy they were to see this site established, there is sure a dearth of activity here! Where IS everybody? Are we all so busy in our lives that we can't contribute a little?
To re-establish why I'M here -- I'm a fan of roller sets on males with long hair, especially when that set results in a traditionally "female" hairstyle. I love to see photos of guys in rollers, and their "do's," and if you have such material, I encourage you to share it with us somewhere -- on the adjunct Long-Hair site, or on LisaHair's HP if you are more TG or CD inclined. Come out of the woodwork (or the closet!) and let's get some threads going here!

. Keep up the good work you are doing with your web-site, there are many of us that really appreciate your efforts. Affectioately, Catherine
Um...I'm a little confused (or someone is) -- I don't have a web site. Appreciate your comments, though, and look forward to your photos!
Dear Cooke,
I too am a great fan of the 'retro' styles of the '60's. I was very young at the time, but i did live through a part of it.
When I was in Junior High, and just becoming aware of girls, i was facinated by the mini-bouffants of that time. There was a great hairdo, with a long part that went well back on top . . . the girls' hair was combed directly and FLATly toward the temples from the part - so that when the hair was combed directly back from the center of the head, it attained beautifuly apparent height. No teasing need be involved for this to work. The style was based on what was generally a truly short haircut for the time. If the hair was very long at all, the effect could be quite dramatic (but Cheap!).
The real version was much more subtle. A very short do that stil had height. Casually elegant. Add an inch of hair, and you were ready for the prom.
I love all the sites that even make an attempt to keep the topic of hair setting active - particularly, of course, when the setting is something done and enjoyed by males - or "ladies like myself", if you prefer.
Take care all,
Lisa

Well, so far, it looks flame-free. I think a lot of guys may have had problems on HairNet and they are reluctant to post here. We shall see.
You know, I have just out of curiosity called and e-mailed a lot of salons that still do roller sets, updos, etc., and you'd be surprised at how many have told me, "no big deal -- we've done this sort of thing for men before...in fact, quite a few times." Nowadays, it's not such a big deal to them, and there seem to be a lot more guys having their hair done like this than would care to admit it. I'm sure it's just a matter of time untilk they come out of the woodwork and find us here.
It LOOKS flame-free, but it is not. I have removed two flames so far. This is a moderated board. If I receive complaints about posts, I will check them out, and if I deem them unsuitable or offensive, I will remove them. I have only had to do this once so far.
JJ, are any of those shops in Atlanta?
Not that I can recall off the top of my head. Why not call a few? There is a HUGE transgendered community in Atlanta, and I'm sure there are at least a few salons there than have done roller sets on men.
So why stop at just the female hairstyles? My husband & I indulge in historic reenactments and recently I got to style his hair for the 1797 time period. There were men in France known as Incroyables who wore the rock star look of their time. The clothes were loud & styles exaggerated, and with the hairstyles looked like they had been slept in for days. Ed's hair is not very long, just below the shoulders. He had it cut in a layered style. Think Keith Partridge or Rod Stewart. The first time I put him in curlers (perm rods for a tight curl) and the second time just went at it with a 3/8" curling iron. (He didn't want to drive three hours in curlers.)
I do have a photo scanned that we'd love to share. Problem is, I thought his hair wasn't quite long enough for the men's long hair site & didn't fit in with the female styles of Lisa's page. It's too bad this century's menswear has been so drab compared to the peacocks of the 18thC.

Carol,
Please include the photo you referred to. While I intend to eventually have mainly very long hair in the pages, this forum is for all long haired interests. You may post whatever you like as long as it is somehow related to long hair on men and is not offensive.
