Hi David, i was just looking through your photobucket and was wondering what your job actually is!
I am not sure if you have said before and i am interested :)
DaPs.
Hi DaPs,
Thanks for asking about my job. Actually, I am a chemist, involved with protecting the food supply of the Canadian public. The machines that you see in my album are used to measure for unwanted chemicals in fish and foods, to ensure that they don't exceed levels that could be safe to eat. It is almost like detective work in a way, similar to how they test for banned drugs in the Olympics. The work is challenging and rewarding.
Thanks again for your interest,
David
Cool, sounds interesting. I am into healthy eating and always look on the back of the packet :P
So now i know how they do it :P
Thanks David,
DaPs.
Just make sure it doesn't say made in China.
Arrick
crap. i have 'made in china' tattooed on the back of my right ankle. i'm in serious trouble.

David - I hadn't realized you were in Canada. It certainly is a small and also really large world in many ways. As a bit of a coincidence, I work for a company in Canada that distributes chemicals used in the manufacture of different foods. Having high quality products is a major focus of our efforts.
AndrewB
Hi Andrew,
It is really cool to see a fellow Canadian here, and especially one with a scientific backgound. If you click on my avatar, you can access my photobucket account, and see some of the VERY cool machines used in my job.
All the best,
David
That is such an interesting job, and amazing that you can not only keep your long hair, but sport a beard as well. Kudos to you for the work you do keep the food supply safe, and kudos to your employers for allowing longhairs.
Since you work as a chemist, have longhair and a beard, can we lobby a few stereotyped 'mad scientist' jokes in your direction??? :-D (silly humour slipping through...)
Carol
Hi Carol,
Thank you for your kind words. Although I am the only longhaired guy in my workplace, and also have the longest beard as well, I have no problems with either of them, even if I get teased once in a while or called "Grizzly Adams" or "Jesus" in jest.
Oh, yes, I don't mind a few good natured "mad scientist" jokes at all, I always enjoy a good laugh! Perhaps, one day, I might even join the "long flowing hair club for scientists", a web site where lots of both men and women scientists with long hair display their manes, all it takes is a nomination!
Thanks again, and take care,
David
A mad scientist makes a clone of himself. The next day, as usual, he goes to work. The clone stays home in his apartment. All day long the clone screams, yells and cusses.
At the end of the day the mad scientist comes home to find the clone sceaming, yelling and cussing. The mad scientist tells the clone to quiet down, but the clone refuses. Finally the mad scientist takes the clone over to the window and pushes the clone out. The clone falls to the ground and splatters over the sidewalk.
A policeman nearby sees the whole thing and runs up to the mad scientist to find out what happened. The mad scientist explains. The policeman says, I will have to arrest you.
Whats the charge? asks the mad scientist?

I found the link below. didn't know so many guys in science had long hair. You should join!

Luxurious Hair Club For Scientists
Hi Carol,
And is IS a VERY bad pun, but the joke was a RIOT, just the same! Now REALLY what i would like to do is to make a clone, send him off to work each day, then I could each and every day on the GOLF COURSE!
Thaat is exactly the web site I was thinking about earlier, it would be wonderful to be a member. However, it does take a nomination to join, and I could never nominate myself. That would be far too presumptuous of me!
Take care, and thanks for the fun,
David
i bet if you posted a link to your credentials, you would end up with lots of nominations from the mlhh members.
peace,
nic - your long-haired sister
Hi nic,
Thank you for the suggestion. As I said to Carol just now, I have my name as co-author on a scientific paper or two. However, I would never make a post about that here, it would not really be on topic, and it would seem rather vain if I were to list my scientific accomplishments here. Only if someone specifically asked about it in a post, would I post it. And this post has scrolled down too far for most people to notice it anyway.
Thanks again,
David
i perused the site some more today, and it says you can nominate yourself. but if you don't want to, send me your info and i'll do it! :) you talk as though you would love to be a member, so i think you should be one. from the looks of it, you have more credentials than quite a few who are on there. and you have better hair, too!
send me the info!! become an official long-haired scientist!! :)
peace,
nic - your long-haired sister
side note: check out gallery five. near the bottom is a man with red hair down to his toes!
Hi Nic,
That is awesome that you would do that for me, you are VERY kind! Since you are not yet listed in the directory of users, I cannot email you at his time, but perhaps when you become listed I will send yoiu some info. Or feel free to email me through the hyperboard mailing system if you wish.
Thank you again,
David
You must help the fine folks of the MLHH with your credentials, so they can put in nominations FOR you! ;-) That website was such eye candy for me; all those geeky, dorky, nerdy, braniac longhaired scientific types. My kind of man! I'm so bored tired of the clean-cut, suit-wearing, corporate types. Bleah!
Carol
Hi Carol,
Thank you again, I do have my name on a scientific paper or two, but only as a co-author, I am not sure if that is enough. I could never dream of asking anyone to nominate me, though, seems a little vain if I were to ask.
Thanks again,
David
