To comb your hair from the middle of your head/scalp? Like, there's a parting in the middle. The kind of hair James Raymond has on his website. <_<
I see he had that look as early as the first few months but I'm on my 6th month now and tried it yesterday night!
While it looked good, I noticed a lot of hair falling which I know is normal but they were longer than expected which is a good sign that I'm having longher hair! (or is it a bad sign that I'm losing longer hair?!)
Anyway, I'm currently on my 'boring' bangs above my eyes and hair over the ears crap look but I really like the middle parting look so is it good to try it out on my sixth month?
First off, welcome to the MLHH! Secondly, thanks for checking out my site ;). Now, to respond, the average rate of hair shedding is about 100 hairs per day, so what you're experiencing is quite normal. This will become even more evident the longer your hair gets. It's completely natural and nothing to worry about.
Glad you like the center part look for yourself. It's perfectly fine to try it out after the sixth month, as you should do what you think looks best for your hair. Keep it growing! =)

You can even do it from 2-3 months. Some peoples hair grows nicely for it, others don't.
I have grown mine for 7 months and it still flicks over when i try it because of a cows lick, which makes my fringe stick up!
Give it a go and see how it turns out.
DaPs.
I would say about now to give it a try. When longer it ALWAYS parts from the middle automatically.
You are doing fine and all is sounding perfectly normal.
Just continue to let all grow and the "boring" will be behind you before you know it.
Best of luck to you.
I started parting my hair at 16 months, before that I had a side part.
You should try out whatever works best for you. Not everyone can pull off the center part or side part well.Me, for instance, The center part works fine but when I try the side part, It looks horrible. That boring stage you describe will be over before you know it. Just keep the hair growing and don't cut it. You'd be surprised how it is going to look in another year. By the way, Welcome!
I can't manage aything but a side part, but now I manage a partial side part as it gets longer. It's all about the flow of the hair, though.
Thanks guys! I will try out this look more and more as the months progress. =)
Also, I tried the side parting since my mom always asks me to comb it that way, but like most people, I hated it. :P It looked ridiculous now since my bangs are 4.5 inches long (some maybe 5?) and combing it to the side only looked good after 2-3 months of growing.
No problem, friend. You have a very well-made site which is easy to access and you post about 15+ pics every month from all sides. Now that's really helpful for people who want to compare their own lengths with yours.
Did you have any trims while growing it out? Just asking.
Just one -- shortly before the 5th month, and it was just in the back and around the ears (you can see it on the October 2006 page).
