Hey guys, took these pictures weeks ago, forgot to post them before I went away. Still doing my usual one wash with shampoo every 3-4 days, or a small wash every day with an amount the size of a dime only rubbing into the crown. Conditioner (moisturizing/hydrating) every day followed by a leave in. July 21 will be one year since I started growing it from shaved bald. I'm extremely happy with my hair this time through. I took pictures of both how it looks while wet and while dry.
Great progress, Helgast!
It seems like only yesterday when you were posting pics of your newly shorn head. And now...great thick hair with muti-faceted colour and some great curl at the ends. I can see a future of AWESOME, fullbodied hair.
Keep on going!
Shawn (Mr. Crow)
Thanks man =] I remember talking in the past with you about taming curls using gel and stuff, I haven't been doing that myself much now. In highschool I would have to but in college I've just been wearing a hat on it if it's humid or windy. Only for those few special occasions will I gel/mousse it back.
It looks good both wet and dry it looks like your routine works for you as your hair looks healthy.
Happy Growing
Kevin
Thanks Kevin, I'm REALLY happy with how it's turning out this time. Admittedly I have attempted to straighten it ONE time, but I wasn't liking how it was going and I decided to stop immediatley. I don't want my hair to be straightened, the first time I grew it I was so dead set on it, but I've come to embrace what I have =]
What a difference between now and your skinhead days. The curls look fabulous, and it's obvious that all of your dedicated care is paying off.
Mouse
Thanks =] I've come to embrace the curls. Half of the nightmare of my first time growing it was that I was 15 and had never had hair over 1 1/2 inches. I treated it the same way, shampooing every single day, never a leave in conditioner and sometimes not even conditioning. I would then comb it WHILE DRY... and even worse... blow dry it, alot, sometimes everyday. STUPID mistakes, I can't believe I did all that... luckily I found this board, and a lot of girls gave me tips too =D
Hey, man, long time no see.
Wow, your hair is really coming along. It's amazing how much difference knowing how to care for your hair can make. I still remember your old updates before you cut your hair, and I always used to think they were amazing, but seeing the state of your hair now, I can safely say that you made the right decision to start over. When you reach the length you had before, it'll look ten times better this time around.
Keep it growing, man!
Peace
Thanks man, back in the days when I posted here a lot more often I always remembered liking your hair, probably some of the hair only hair on here that can get curlier than mine... for those pics i took, it is tame... but if I shampoo it and do not condition... I get one of the biggest curliest fro's ever... it's ridiculous. Which is why I never do that =] Thanks for the continued support. Glad I started growing it over, not only is it healthier, but was a transformation for me as well.
Definitely looking better this time around; taking proper care of your hair is making a big difference. Nice Dwight Shrute bobblehead. ;-)
Thanks =D I love Dwight Shrute, definitly my favorite actor and character on the office.. got it at the NBC store in manhattan!
nice dood. Your making a great comeback!

Great update Helgast, it seems only yesterday that you had a shaved head!! Your hair is really looking great on you, keep it this time!!!!!!
Cheers Dave
Thanks Dave, I have always been a fan of your hair, just saw your newest progress picture so let me tell you here... AWESOME =]
Can't wait till I can pony tail it again... no chance in hell that I will cut it again, it is a part of me and I realised that after cutting the first time.
Awesome hair. It definitely shows the care that you put into it. It has a nice color too.
Keep it growin,
Mathew
Thanks Matt loving the color and feel myself; when I reach the one year mark I'll have to start posting some of the old pictures from the first time I started growing... wow they are bad =X

That's some great growth for only 11 months, and really thick also. Have you tried tailing it, or maybe it's still too short.
Simon
Thanks Simon, yep it does grow pretty fast and is REALLY THICK. My hair always has been like that. I've been taking 2 multivitamins twice a day, fish oil tablets twice a day, working out and doing cardio 4-6 times a week. I think it has made a LOT of difference in the texture and color of my hair this time through. So happy with the way it is comming along. Not long enough for a tail yet but it's getting there. I think another 8 months or so =] I can wait
Hi! Your hair looks so incredibly thick and healthy. It looks great and it's growing fast. I'll bet you can't wait until it gets shoulder length. Good Luck
Del
Thanks Del! My hair is REALLY thick, I love it. I used to hate how thick and curly my hair was but I just really can't imagine it any other way now. I love what I've got and have been letting it be itself this time, instead of trying to straighten it!
How lovely..:-)
Cheers,
John.B
Thanks =D Been taking really good care of it this time through!
grrr... curls, curls everywhere. that's it, i'm getting a perm. your mane looks fabulous!! :)
peace,
nic - a long-haired sister
Hi Helgast,
Your hair looks awesome in this update, I am blown away by how fast you have come in a mere 11 months from bald. Your shiny curls absolutely ROCK, and they are incredibly thick and healthy. Keep up the GREAT growth, the longer, the better!
All the best,
David
Killer hair there Helgast, looks like your routine is working quite well. Looks awesome
What kind of shampoo, conditioner and leave in do you use now, I am still not satisfied with my routine but I might try your idea of a little dime sized amount of shampoo. I cannot skip days without some shampooing or my hair looks awful. This might be a good compromise.
Thanks
Very cool! As someone that had longhair in the 90's (first time), then cut it, now growing a second time long, I can say that you do learn from your mistakes. It certainly seams you're on a good path to long hair again. Good job!
Keep on growin'
Bruce
Dude, Your hair looks amazing. It looks THICK and healthy with lots of shine. Also, That is outstanding progress for 11 months considering that you started from a shaved head. Keep it growing and keep us updated.
...
Hi Helgast as it certainly is good to see you back here since that fateful day so so long ago. Obviously I know you will have great hair since I remember it before "The Cut"! And I'm sure you are taking extra special care to keep it healthy for the long haul. Are you planning on going really long?Regardless whatever you do will be awesome.Mark
This routine sounds liek a good one this time around. I really think you will end up with some quality hair now that you know so much better how to go about taking care of it. I have a feeling I will be green with envy in a few years.
This is actually a cool look now that you have going.
Waaaah! I'm envious. So thick one can hardly see your part. Looks great wet or dry.
Carol
Yup
Helgast
Time flys when your growing your hair out of your really short Buzzcut ( Forget weither you had Zero Buzz or Razored it ) I though you had great hair last time it was very long so glad your growing it back suits you so much better than the buzz you have a great head of hair full of curls in awesome condition cheers for sharing your update
Axel
Hey man..
The hair looks great. I have a similar routine with my hair. Wash usually about once a week and condition daily. I too am appoaching 1 year next month from a shaved bald head. It takes forever doesn't it?!
Keep up the great progress for sure...
Tristan
Thanks guys =] Definitely loving my hair this time around, I'm probably going to be growing it down to my chest touching the upper abs, but we'll see when that time gets there. Thanks for the encouragement =D
