For those who commented and/or were wondering about my hair color, here's a close-up pic taken quite awhile ago (there's more white in my mane now).... Once I get the opportunity to get familiar and play around with my new camera, I'll take a similar close-up pic, so you can see the difference with the increased grey; but, hey, I guess I should "rush" it, huh? I mean, I'm happy to have y'all still believe I'm only in my 20s... my very, very LATE 20s!

This pic was taken in May of '04. Those are "ice plants" I'm resting on... Aizoaceae, for those interested in the official Latin name. Originally from South Africa, they were imported to California coastal areas a long time ago, and now have become very "naturalized" all over Calif. beaches and coastal dunes, --- a very soft & spongy succulent plant to take a snooze on!

Ken, What beautiful silver blond hair and white beard you have.
stunning! I bow my head in awe!
peace, jonalbear
Don't bow your head down TOO far, jonalbear, --- or some of your bangs will fall into you soup! (Lol)

This is my version of the men's "comb-over" (lol)!! Taken in May of '04 again, this was shot while on a trip with one of my nieces up to Oregon state. We went the coast route back to SF, stopping overnight at Gold Beach, OR. I woke up early; but, my niece wanted to sleep in, --- so I hit the beach to hike a bit, then took this hair pic (which has definitely turned out to be one of my all-time favorites)... When I got back to the motel and showed this to my niece, her comment: "You're silly, Uncle Ken!"
Thanks for looking, --- and NO, in case I forgot to mention it, I have NEVER dyed my hair!!! (Although I can't say the same about my beard... i HAVE colored away that, to take away the grey at times, --- although currently still look like this, with its natural "Santa Claus" tones - lol)....
- Ken in San Francisco
I forgot to mention another advantage to very looooooong hair...
If you grow it REALLY looooooooooooooooong, you no longer have to do a detectable "comb-over" to hide any bald spots or receding hairline (which is what I have to some degree) as you age, --- just comb your mane over and over and over (and around and around and around...).... Just don't forget to leave at least SOME of your face exposed (lol)!!

this one is my favorite! you look so nice and peaceful. and i love the plants! i'm going to have to find myself one. (i grow a variety of succulents on my patio. in the desert, that's about the only kind i can keep alive.)
peace,
nic - your long-haired sister
I look "peaceful" here because somebody finally came around and hit me over the head to shut me up (lol)!!

Hi again, Ken,
Yes, late 20's it is, I can certainly drink to that, eternally young you and I will remain! All these shots of your mane from 3 years ago are AWESOME, and certainly, embrace the few gray hairs mixed in with your wonderful blonde. As I say so often about my own hair and the grey within, it's really like getting Nature's own natural highlights, and gives a lot of character!
And I can't wait until you figure out that camera!
Take care,
David
Wow, It's not often that I see a so pretty hair color ;) Your hair seems so... soft !
Bye
Vivien
Thanks, Vivien!
Well, my secret is: "Downy Fabric Softener" (NO, only kidding - lol)!!!!
Take care, --- and thanks again for the compliment!
- Ken
Hey Ken, love the color! I thought you were a red head in that Dec '06 pic. I'm a red have always been (my mother's side), but my brother and sister started off with blond hair which darkened over time. I think i'm the opposite, I'm getting lighter (gray), with time! Oh well, better better to be long and gray than bald and shiny!
Keep on growin'
Bruce
Great photo Ken and the hair colour is sensational! Thanks for posting this one as now I can see about how close I was able to "guess" at the real colour in your other thread.
Hope all is well with you today.
All the best-
Justin~
You've got such a unique haircolor Ken! When i first discovered this board you were one of my biggest inspirations actually:)
Simon
More grey or not, your hair is terrific Ken. And enjoying it is much more important than what it looks like or anything, otherwise why bother?
It's also nice to know there are other longhairs out there who don't fit a stereotype (metalhead, biker, hippie, etc). I never fit into any stereotype of longhair either lol
Keep on inspiring us Ken :)
No offense but Ken do look kinda like a biker in his black leather jacket wich i've seen in a pic of him wearing it, hehe LOL:D
"...I'm only in my 20s... my very, very LATE 20s!.."
Oh ! PLEAZZEE !! Even I wouldn't try to pull THAT off ! HA!
WWT
And that's what you can say. Besides, age is as much a state of mind, as it is a physical state. You are as old as you feel, so if you feel like you are 29, well...???
Carol
Yes, Carol, that is EXACTLY what I said to Ken in this same thread, perhaps worded a little differently. You are only as old as you feel, and if you feel young, you ARE young in spirit, and that is what REALLY counts!
David
Ken, that photo and the one before just really bring out the amazing colour you've got! And I'd rather say the little grey you're getting is looking great with the blonde! And don't worry about your length (it's enviable the way it is!) I can't wait till you post the new photos :D
