Hey guys!
I've got a good question - I've seen lots of soccer players wear a thin headband when playing soccer to keep their longer hair out of their way. I got some small headband/ties things (made for women generally but thin and black and about as non-feminine as they'll come so no worries there) but I can't figure out how to put it on to look good and still control the hair during sports.
Anyone know what I'm tlaking about or should I elaborate more?
Thanks!
Mike D
If I'm following you correctly, I wear the same type all the time. Start the band at the front hair line with the ends behind the ears. Push the band back to desired spot while keeping the ends in place behind your ears.
Hope this helped, if not I can try to take some pictures.
peace
Hey Mike i know exactly what you are talking about!!! but sorry i cant help you too muchcoz i have no idea where to buy these myself and therefore have never tried wearing one! i always see soccer players wearing them. string thin black headbands. i can find plenty of thick headbands in shops but never the thin ones! where did you buy yours from??
some friends of mine with long hair use blacks shoelaces for sports lol i have tried this before and it actually works ok. basically i lift all my hair on top (sometimes tying it up in a high bun makes the process easier) then i tie the shoelace around my head, a couple cm in from where the hair begins front and back. then i let my hair fall free. this keeps the hair out of my ears and face and if done right lifts it a bit off my neck which is great for comfort on a hot day and keeps the sweat off a bit. i have used normal ehadbands too but dont really like the look. normally i do a shoelace or just tie my hair in a tail.
but if anyone knows where to get the thin black ¨soccer player¨headbands mike is talkin about let me know haha! cheers
Do you mean an alice band? That's what it sounds like. I've never worn a "proper" one, but I usually put on sunglasses and then push them up to the top of my head. This works like a band, but without the feminine stigma. I don't suppose it would be good for sports, cuz it wouldn't stay up, and I'd want the shades on my eyes. ;)
I am not much interested in spectator sports, but I garden, chop wook, and walk my dog vigorously. I think the real issue is protecting your hair. Whenever work, or workout vigorous, I get sweaty, have to wipe my forehad and neck, and regret that I have failed to put on a bandana which protects and keeps the sweat out of my eyes.
The only man I have ever seen step out of the warm up box as a closing picture was Dennis Eckersley, whose shoulder length blond curls silently announced that his hairdresser, or perhaps he was so tallented as well, had been at work.
There is not much out there on the Eck. While I haven't spent much time on it, I have been unable to find an s-mail address. I want to write him and ask for an interview.
Man, I'm also looking for a thin one since my bangs are seriously starting to become annoying.
This is a good pic with Cesc Fabregas wearing a thin hairband if that's the type you want:
You're asking how to put on a headband, are you? Because headbands and hair ties are two totally different things, though they serve similar purposes.
Headbands have always seemed tricky to me. To this day, I'm still not sure how to put them on properly, but what I do is this. I tie my hair into a ponytail but use the headband as the hair tie, and then I just slide the headband up so that it rests behind my ears and sits slightly above my forehead. An alternate, though messier, way is to get the headband around your neck like a collar, and then pull it back up over your forehead and behind your ears.
Since headbands are so tricky, though, I recommend an Alice band, which is a U-shaped ob ject (essentially half of a headband) that sits behind your ears and does the same thing the headband does, only with way less hassle. Alice bands are considered more "feminine" than headbands, but if it helps you with sports, then use it. Don't live your life worrying about how "masculine" or "feminine" things are, or you'll get totally hung up on those labels.
Peace
ive used head bands when i play sports and work out weather it be the thin stretchy cloth like material or the big scrunchie ones i got them at wal-mart or sams depending where you live. alice ones never worked for me they kept falling off although i do have a nice one with skull and crossbones on it for certain occasions lol
your best bet for a sporty headband is the line made by goodie. go to goodie.com, go to accessories, from there to headbands, and from there to sport. they have a whole line of non slip headbands, and they work great. i buy mine at either target or walgreens. (sorry... i'm at work or i'd post a picture.)
peace,

Goody.com is the hair accessories site. Goodie.com is some goofy search engine.
