hey every one i was in the shower going through my usual routine and was wondering if there was any other routines that would work better for me so i thought id tell you guys my routine and hopefully you guys could critique it for me :{ ] and please please let me know what you guys did when your hair was at the length mine is now
1. i use frutis shampoo and conditioner what do you guys use ive been thinking about switching
2. after i shower i comb all my hair back
3. i towel dry then put on a baseball cap and tie up all the excess towel drying every half hour or so
any feed back would be much appreciated thanks in advance :{ ]
I use the Fructis stuff too, and have found it to be really compatible with my hair type, and many others like it too....it's pretty good.
Hey Kal El, I have to be frank with you. There were two things I certainly did not like from your routine. A brush should not be used when ones hair is wet. Hair is at it's weakest when wet meaning it can break easily. You should try to use a wide-toothed comb instead. The other thing, I'm not sure if it is a good idea to tie your hair up when wet. Refer to what I mentioned above. Also, Be careful when towel drying. Try to pat your head lightly with the towel instead of rubbing your hair. Harsh towel drying can cause damage. My routine is quite simple. I shampoo and condition two or three times a week only. If I shampoo daily, My hair gets extremely dry. When I condition, I get my wide-toothed comb and cautiously detangle my hair. Afterwards, I pat my hair a few times with the towel and let it air dry. I have used many hair care brands(Including Garnier Fructis). I am currently using Suave Naturals shampoo and conditioner. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
Thank you so much i do have a wide tooth comb and will switch to using one when my hair is wet and ill stop tieing it back and use a skullie again would that work fine?
Sure, That'll work fine. If it were me, I would wait until my hair was damp before putting on the skull cap. The skull cap trick works great. It sort of molds and tames your hair in a way :-)
+++++ Afterwards, I pat my hair a few times with the towel and let it air dry. Meant to say: *Afterwards, I rinse off the conditioner, Hop out the shower, Pat my hair dry gently and then let it air dry.*
First of all, welcome aboard, Kal El. If your handle is an indication of what popular American super hero ya like, I think that "Smallville" is one of the all-time best treatments of that mythos. It's also good to see the villain, Lex Luthor, is completely shaven-headed *grin*
So, here, this is my recommendation. Mane ' Tail shampoo AND their conditioner, too, as well as a good boar's bristle brush. That's it! But, why does my Mac photograph things in reverse?
Your hair's awesome. Glad ya can commit to long hair now that school's over. Keep it growin' and goin'!

You're welcome and Thank you. I find Mane 'n Tail at a local drug store chain, Consumer Value Stores, a/k/a/ C.V.S. Good luck trackin' them down. Also carry boar's bristles brushes there, too.
Best wishes in longhaired camaraderie,

Cool. I'm gotta try finding that and give it a shot. I just searched for Mane N' Tail and read a lot of positive reviews. I don't have course hair but I figure it can't hurt.... can it? :-)

The only thing I can recommend is to *NOT* comb your hair while it is still wet. What it does (afaik) is pull out more hair than usual, because your hair is weaker and more vulnerable while it is wet. In fact I don't even use a towel on my hair, I just wait a couple of hours. Unless i'm in a hurry ofc :P
In addition to some of the advice below, I suggeset detangling your hair as much as possible BEFORE showering. Also, while shampooing and conditioning, keep the general flow of your hair slicked back (in other words, don't pile it on your head or scrub it into a big mass).

Hi Kai El,
I just gave a very detailed response to Ryan in his post just above yours, --- where he asked essentially the very same question as you did here...
Rather than me repeat myself (which I can do very well enough on my own, thankyou! which I can do very well enough on my own, thankyou! which I can do very well enough...), just go to that reply to see what I say & suggest there... Happy reading!
