Tonight while watching Le Tour de France on T.V., an announcer referred to one of the cyclists (Chris Horner) as having, "cleaned up his act" when he cut off the "long ponytail" he had earlier in his career. I immediately went to their website and wrote an email saying I was offended by the negative stereotype. I am a cyclist myself and happen to have long hair. Furthermore, many current and former Pro cyclists had and have long hair inc. the famous French rider Laurent Fignon. I doubt my complaint will get back to the announcer (Bob Roll) but if everyone write them maybe they'll get the message. Think?
Their url is www.versus.com and then go to Tour Coverage. Power to the People (longhairs)! Bruce'ster
What the he...??? Cleaning up your act would be getting rid od a harmful lifestyle. What does hacking off your ponytail have to do with that?

Awesome sone1 whos doin something
yeah even though i dont have long hair yet ill mos def write an email or sumthin
whats tha email?
I couldn't agree with you more, Bruce'ster... To stereotype longhairs as needing to have their "act" supposedly "cleaned up" would imply that by the simple act of HAVING LONG HAIR that there must be something "wrong", --- as if we are all hardcore drug addicts, staggering drunk alcoholics, mean and insensative wife-beaters, cheaters, theives, and any list of things we'd like to make even longer that insinuates we should all feel we belong better locked up in prison...
I am not going to write them myself, since I didn't hear the comment directly; but you are welcome to cut & paste and then send off to them my comment here.
It also might be helpful for me to add at this point that I have never been drunk; have never been high on or taken any "recreational drug"; have never been in trouble with the law (other than gotten parking tickets - lol); and also don't ride a motorcycle (not that this is "bad" - lol), am not in a rock 'n' roll or heavy metal band, or fit into any other stereotype for having long hair... But, i DO just so happen to dance a mean Tango (although West Coast Swing is really my specialty - lol), as well as Waltz, Foxtrot, Salsa and C&W 2-Step, --- and, most shocking of all.... I even like dancing to Frank Sinatra!!! So, how's THAT for breaking the stereotype image of longhairs??!!!
Maybe someday the guy who made that jerk of a comment will someday, "clean up his act"; but, I wouldn't count on it... I hear that a lot of short-hairs are either hardcore alcoholics or drug addicts!!!!!!!

It is wrong, in the eyes of the government and their monkeys who follow without even knowing it. It will only ever change when something so big happens it will knock a government out of power and governments are so stable these days. It would be only the power of the people which could do such as thing. If only eh!
Morning Ken: Thanks for doing such a great job elaborating on my point. As for your personal background, I guess you haven't really "lived" until you've gotten drunk, stoned and landed in jail (lol). Seriously...my best friend gave me a nice wall hanging on my birthday that said, "A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...but a TRUE friend will be sitting next to you saying...Damn that was fun!" Guess it's all in one's perspective. Maybe one day I'll come see you dance!!! Peace - Bruce
