i have a question about straightening my hair..when i wet my hair its long.. longer than when its dry.. so if i straighten it will it get long(dry) like if it was wet???
Yep, you would.
Although I don't know if straightening one's hair is harmful to it or not, double check.
-- Harmful!! Definitely harmful!!
Please don't do it too often, as i've butchered my hair because of it.
If you buy a "heat protective" spray or serum to coat the hair before flat ironing it, it makes flat ironing it a lot less damaging. It can still hurt your hair, but not nearly as bad. You'll likely be fine.
IMO, do what you have to do to make it look good to you. Mine's decently wavy and I straighten sometimes, but to be honest I don't always feel like it. It's a good deal of work, I guess.
Anyways, I'd feel free to straighten it.
Hey Billybobjohn!
Your hair looks like its the same texture as mine. I've been using a straightener for a few months now, although not every day. As far as damage goes, I haven't experienced any...my hair is as dry as anything, so I figure that I can't damage it any more than it already is. It does look and feel better and you get less tangles but I'm sure there's a bunch out there who would advise against it. Whatever the case, it works for me.
Also, the straightening won't last long in the summer heat and humidity, but at least its better than nothing!
Take care, good luck and keep it growin'!
Brett
I'm not advising against it. Just my mum was telling me how it's a bad idea. But she also told me that trimming your hair made it grow faster :P
I suppose it depends on how you straighten it. There are people that do it with an iron, and that's definitely damaging.
