Hi, I asked this question about 2 months ago but I never really did anything about it. I just continued washing everyday and yeah not much as changed, my hair still feels a bit frizzy the day when I wash cause of the oils being stripped, then by the end of the next day my hair is really oily again. (Though it only seems to be really oily towards the front of my hair and fringe, the back usually doesn't get as oily...)
I read somewhere that if I decrease washing from everyday to every 3-4days or so that my scalp will adjust and start producing less oil (Though you're hair feels really bad apparently until it gets used to this change for a week or 2?) Anyways is this true? Any guys here with oily hair like mine care to share tips on how to battle your scalp producing too much oil?
Also instead of making a new thread, any tips on speeding up drying time? My hair isnt even shoulder length yet and it's taking like 4-5hours to be completely dry (I have kinda thick wavy hair, but not insanely thick) damn i'm jelous when people can air dry there hair completely dry in only 30mins, should I invest in a blow dryer?
Any help would be appreciated :D
To answer your first question: I don't know about the scalp adjusting part, but if your hair is much more oily at the front, then try brushing your hair back to spread out the oils. That's really what the point of brushing is, to spread the oils out.
And as to air drying, 4-5 hours sounds insane. Mine is just past shoulder length and takes 2 hours. Are you simply leaving it all in one lump to dry? I'd recommend shaking your head about to free up your hair. The more surface area is exposed to the air, the faster it will dry.
I'll time it tomorrow to see how long it's taking, but I know it's definetly not completely dry after an hour or 2. And no, I usually blot it with a towel after a shower a bit, then I put it up in a towel for about 30mins, then let it air dry. Still takes SO long to dry.
I'm not enjoying long hair much, good hair days are rare and I can't even tie it yet, sucks :(
Just hang in there man. Good things come to those who wait. Mine does take about 3.5-4 hours to dry, then again mine is low-back length.
peace
Your scalp will adjust to a certain extent, but it is likely to take (much) more than 1-2 weeks. Using a less stripping shampoo (or simply much diluted shampoo) may help to prepare to stretch wash frequency.

As has been said before, just reduce your wash routine with shampoo, rinsing only. It will take a little while to adjust but believe me it is worth it - I haven't used shampoo for years.
I can hold my hair up to my nose and it smells really nice and natural - a bit like sheeps wool actually. Its great, try it.
