Hello fellow long hairs/longer-than mine hairs!
Just thought I'd raise the very obvious point of how long hair can give you a completely different look based on how you wear it. This was always one of the things that appealed to me about being a long hair. Some days I want to wear it down for a softer more relaxed look. Other times, I'll go with a sleek ponytail for something smarter or a half-tail if I'm training. I love this versatility.
Would be interested in seeing others' contrasting looks. I'm enclosing a couple of mine.
Other funny thing I've noticed lately is that my strength is increasing as my hair gets longer. Maybe that Samson guy was on to something! Lol
Take care

hey, troy! although the ponied look certainly isn't bad, i definitely prefer this one. you look great with the hair fraiming your face. i like the half-tail look on you, too (i remember you posting that awhile back). have you tried legolas style braids yet? if not, get to it and post some pics!
peace,
nic
p.s. O/T - any advice for toning abs? i hate excercise, so something super low impact would be good. i don't need to do much, i just want to get a bit more toned in that area with as little effort as possible. (hey, i'm lazy. what can i say?)
Hi Nic. I haven't tried to Legolas braids yet. I think I may have to wait another month or so till my hair is a bit longer, but trust me they will be posted asap!
Regarding your abs. Hmm let me see. If you're looking to bring a little tone to this area, I might suggest a litle bit of on the floor leg cycling. Lie on the floor, lift shoulder blades about two inches up, hands by ears. Simultaneously begin cycling your legs out in front of you, keeping them about five inches off the floor. Draw knees nice and far back towards chest. See how long you can manage!
Best wishes
Troy
that sounds like so much work! ugh! but i'll give a go, i guess. why can't they invent fake abbing booths like they have fake tanning booths? that would make my life so much easier...
You could combine insta tan with some ingenuity to get your insta-abs:
Simply cut out half a dozen of the egg cups from a carton of eggs, tape them to your stomach where the 6-Pack should be, enter for the spray tan. When the spraying is over, remove the egg cups to show off your six, whiter-looking ab muscle areas with all the insta-tanning solution giving artificial shadow and definition to your abdominal area.
Be sure to send update pics.

(PS. I like to jest.)
not a bad idea! if only i didn't already have a real tan... a month ago i could've given that a shot. but, alas, now i will actually have to work out. ack. so depressing.
Abdominal definition is partially developed through exercise but in many people one of the more stubborn fat areas just happens to cover the abs- particularly lower.
It's often said that abs are created in the kitchen and this is at least partially correct. The best diet is not restrictive- but limits intake of saturated fats. Another thing is to take up an activity that can serve as cardio. If running bores you as much as it bores me, consider biking, walking, swimming... don't overdo the cardio though, too much can consume muscle as well as fat. Find a workout buddy who can encourage you through some of the more mind-numbing routines.
i HATE excersise. abhor it. i'm not super lazy - i walk a lot, bike somewhat regularly, and swim all the time. i don't consider that excercise because it's fun. the gym is totally out of bounds for me. gag. and i'm far from fat. i'm 5'9", 135lbs, and have 12% body fat. definitely fit for a girl. the rest of my body is reasonably defined, i just want my abs to match a bit more without a lot of work.
as far as diet, i've been a vegetarian for nine years. per doctors orders (i have low blood sugar), i eat a ton of protein. pretty much the only fat i eat is from cheese and the ice cream i have for lunch every day. :)
i used to have killer abs when i was dancing all the time, but i just don't have the time for that anymore. i just want them back!
Hello fellow long hairs/longer-than mine hairs!
Hi Mike. Yes it is in a tail. I've enclosed proof! lol. Guess I could have been cheating and just used a pic of me with short hair. Sometimes when I've worn it in this style, people at work actually think I've cut my hair, until they see the tail from behind. This is a good style for me when I'm working and can normally withstand the usual daily routine of jumping, running, flying!
Take care
Troy
Hey, just like to say that both styles are very different but suit you equally well. Question: Do you use any gel on that tail or does it naturally hold well?
Hi yes I use a small bit of gel on the tail. Luckily I have pretty shiny (or is that oily!) hair so once sweapt in, it stays pretty well. Thanks for yr comments. Much appreciated.
All the best in continued growth.
Troy
thanks for the picture from behind. great length on the tail and when your hair is worn down. do you have a goal in mind. now, it looks like your hair is just to your shoulders. past your shoulders would look great on you. thanks again and keep it growing.
. : :i take it the first picture is in a tail. can you post the tail from behind. it is hard to tell in this picture. it looks like it may just be short hair from the front. good length in the second picture. good style, too.
You pull off both looks very well. The half-tail works quite well, especially on the more formal occasions, and it compliments your features. Seems your hair will only get better from here, so keep it growing. =)

I'm looking foward to your next set of update pics. Hope your trip to Portugal is good. Keep growing!
Troy
Hi Troy. Your hair looks great in both styles. I usually wear mine in a tail when I work-out and when I work so that it stays neat and then I wear it loose the rest of the time. It's nice to have the option. The different styles really make you feel different too. Pulled back - alittle conservative Loose and free- alittle wild.

Hi Troy,
Your hair is looking awesome these days in both your ponytail and your hair down picture, straight hair is SUCH a blessing to have! I hope you keep growing it, waist length would be SUPER cool. That is one COOL observation you have made in that the longer you grow your hair, the stronger you get. That sounds like a pretty good incentive to keep it growing!
All the best,
David
Hi Troy! Your hair does look great and I do agree you can do so much more with longhair than with a buzzcut!LOL.I'd love to wear it loose all the time but unfortunately due to its length it would be impossible to deal with outdoors. So like most guys I tail it for the gym and stuff it under a baseball cap for work so it doesn't get in the way or damaged by the elements.Included is a pic of my hair from the back to show the length better. How I wish it was longer!Mark
One more from the front with hair behind my back giving the illusion that its only shoulder length!LOL.Mark
Maybe it has more to do with your confidence. If you feel confident in one area, it radiates to others. You feel more confident about yourself in your goal to be a longhair, so you feel more confident in your goals in strength training. Well, that's the psychological theory anyways.... Or maybe a man's strength really is tied in to his hair length! :-P

Cool pictures.
I have to say I prefer the loose-haired look, but the other styles are good too.
I had begun to think at one point that my writing/memory/scholastic ability was beginning to increase as my hair got longer too. Who can say, maybe longer hair improves everything! HA!
Hey Troy, your hair looks good either way, but of course down says long hair! When I'm in relax mode I'll wear it down, and I've been tempted to go to the supermarket that way, but generally I'll tail it most of the time when in public.
Take care,
Bruce
Hi
Troy
yup that the reason I like having long hair to Ive never tried a halftail though i just stick with the other three down , ponytail and sometimes my misses will braid my hair i asked her to do it after i saw all of Jason awesome braids ( Misses prefers my hair in a ponytail ), This might be another style you will try when it gets long enough so you will have even more versatility choosing from four styles instead of three,,, I usually wear a ponytail most never tried it with gel you seem to be full of ideas I think you can pull of all three styles you currently wear Which is your favourite though ???

I don't know what it is about longer hair for men, but to my eyes they look so much more "humane" with it. Of course as dictated by nature we are suppose to have longhair anyway.
The contrasts you have shown us certainly proove a point.........that is, for the people who do not have closed minds.
Your longer hair looks great and certainly enhances everything about you.
Thanks for sharing this update with all of us and good luck to you as you continue to grow out your hair.
