My hair is wavy, black and shoulder-lenght. Although I can fasten a ponytail, much of my hair is still left hanging. On one side, I am satisfied enough with that hairstyle but, then, I sometimes find myself ridiculous. Should I wait all my hair to grow fully to be fastened?
try fastening it into a half tail (just pulling back the top portion of your hair). this way it gets out of your face, but you aren't left with so many strays. or just use a bit of gell/hairspray to keep the unruly ones in line.
You're probably in the awkward phase. Just relax and let your hair do it's thing. Before you know it you will be able to tie it all up.
I completely agree with the other two replies to your message, but here's one more thought.
For those days when you're just hot and sweaty, or whatever it is that makes you want to get your hair off of your shoulders, here's two more options.
Sometimes, positioning the main part of the pony tail higher or lower on your skull will allow you to gather more of your hair into the "bunch."
--OR-- I'm doing this right now because I currently have a lot of shorter hairs near the backside of my neck...
I take the longest hair up in a pony tail on the top of my head (ridiculous I know, but no one else can see it) and leave the remaining shorter hair loose. I think braid up the shorter/loose hair into a small, simple braid.
Next, I release all my hair and then brush it into a pony tail - with the braid gently drawn in with the rest of my hair.
The only time anyone has ever commented on this styling of my hair was in a yoga class... I was doing a head-stand sort of position and a classmate saw the "cool" braid up the back of my head...from his head stand. Life is very weird.
There are also multi-colored bobby pins: black, steel, blonde...or gel??? maybe a hat in the wintertime?
