I had long hair for about 8 years and recently cut if off last year. Just thought i would share some pics with the forum.

all I can say is awesome!

Whaat! I can't believe you cut all that great hair off, well, are you growing it back again or?
Simon
You had outstanding long hair...........no question and it looked fabulous. However, this board is all about growing ones hair, not posting videos of having long hair cut off. That part is of no interest to us at all.
About the video, I figured I would share it since it isn't something you see everyday.
Some extra info:
About every 3 to 4 months I would cut off about 6 to 8 inches to keep it at that length. It is a pain when you sit on your hair :)
I washed it most of the time twice a week. I would wash the scalp to my neck first, then rinse, then wash the rest. Then condition allt he hair at the same time. Never used a blow dryer and always used a large brush, but would only brush small sections at a time.
If i went out side and it was real windy, I would use 3 or 4 ponytail holders on the pony tail. and would wear a back pack over it to keep the wind from tangling it.
Bye Bye!
What is the point of this thread?
Stormy
what is the point of this post? i ask, because i see the boys are getting a little edgy already (haircuts are the source of nightmares in these here parts).
for clarification, this site is for:
showing support for men with long hair
health tips for optimal growth
encouragement throught the 'awkward' phases of growth
no one here really wants to see someone cut off all of that work. it goes against the sites purpose. unless, perhaps, you decided to start over?
Sorry about the video, I only poseted it because I'm sure its not somthing you see every day. I am very proud of that hair, and the work it took to keep it that nice. It was only cut because of a job that I needed very badly. I do someday plan to grow it back out. I will offer any help with regards to taking care of your long hair. I had lots of tricks for keeping it nice. Just ask away.
apology accepted! :) you seem like a very nice guy, and i hope no one scares you away. it's too bad you had to cut that beautiful hair for a silly job. was it worth it?!? (and out of curiosity, did you keep the hair?)
peace,
nic
p.s. i hope you grow it back someday. it really was gorgeous!
The lady that cut my hair is a long time friend of the family. She and many others in her family have had cancer at one point or another. She talked me into donating it for cancer survivors. I am sure there was enough for 2~4 wigs for kids. She always said if i needed it cut someday to come to her and she would take care of it.
Although many members don't like the idea of cutting hair, they can't argue that it's a noble cause!
Better get working on your next donation,
-Christian Epp
First, they only use 1 out of every 100 ponytails they get to make wigs (their stats...look on their Web site).
Second, it takes about 10 ponytails to make one wig.
The aren't free. Some families must pay up to $2000 for a wig (depending on financial situation of family).
Where does the rest of the hair go? Over half of it is just thrown in the trash due to low quality. The decent quality hair that's not used for wigs is sold to raise money for the organization (your hair could end up on Britany Spears, etc.)
If you were cutting anyways, no harm in donating. But never cut it for the purpose of donating. They don't even pass the BBB charity standards.
The job didn't last as long as i hoped. But it did get me the money and experiance i needed to move on.
You don't have to cut such great hair for a job trust me I know to my loss in the past.

Hi NikG,
You had absolutely STAGGERING long hair , but why, oh why, did you EVER cut if off, after spending EIGHT years growing such a magnificent mane?
David
Well it was cut for a job that i needed. After seeing everybodys hair on here and the support the get from each other. I thought i would show off what i once had.
One of the biggest things that was hard to do after cutting it was trying to readjust a pony tail that didn't exist. I probably tried to readjust it even after 3 months of not having it.
Hi again, NikG,
I am genuinely sorry to hear about this, and sorry for my earlier post, which may have seemed a bit harsh, but to tell the truth, I could not watch the video of you cutting your hair off in your attached link. (it would be too upsetting for me to see) I just read about you mentioning that you had cut it, and failed to understand why a mane that anyone would die for would be gone just like that.
It is really distressing that you had to cut such an outstanding mane off for a job, too bad you could not have worn it in a compact style, such as a bun, to save all the years of hard work you spent growing it. It is really sad that in today's society, there are still those individuals who believe men should only have short hair.
All that being said, hopefully you WILL grow it back again, and find a job that will accept you for who you ARE, and will allow you to wear your hair as you wish.
Take care,
David
done about businesses, corporations, organizations that force people to cut their hair off. As long as hair is kept neat I don't see what all the fuss is about. This is wrong wrong wrong!
One of my fears is coming into work one day and some dumb head saying I have to chop it all of or else.
Something really needs to be done about this.
My 2 Cents :-)
Yep some dress codes are pretty strict. Lucky they are getting a bit more relaxed. Always look around when you go into an interview at other employees and check out their appearance and dress.
At least we have the option of scoping out future employers. :-)
I probably shouldn't worry about my job. My employer would be more worried if I came in with short hair as they would fear I was leaving. LOL
I just get upset when employers force ridiculous policies on people. One reason why I will never work in the corporate sector.
You should grow your hair out again as it was really awesome!

Do you happen to have a picture of your current look or style?
Sure, this one was taking in December
While the long hair was extraordinary, it would be hard to make you look undistinguished. You're a handsome young man. Good luck with whatever career path you choose. As a teacher, I understand the restraints and parameters associated with long hair.
Hi Nic. Your hair length was really awesome. As I watched the video of your hair cut, I hoped that you would stop her just before she cut it. I also cut my long hair off 4 years ago after 7 years of growth. It was just about as long as yours was. I haven't had a cut since and now it is about 3/4 down my back. Are you going to grow yours back or have you had enough of long hair? As long as you are happy how it looks, that's what matters.
Del
P.S. I've enclosed a picture of my current length.
I do hope to someday grow it back out, but probably won't happen anytime soon unless i win the lottery or something like that.
Hi Del! Wow thats a really cool pic of you sporting that awesome mane! Man if I had seen you doing a video having your hair cut off that would have really depressed me to say the least.I guess its good then that I never saw that fateful day when you did cut off seven years worth of hard work.Anyway Del if you ever get any thoughts about cutting your hair like that again call me so I can break all the scissors in your house!LOL.Oh btw I hope you got that e mail I sent you last Friday.Drop me a line when you can.Mark
Amazing hair there, why did you cut it looks wonderful and a great inspiration, hope you are thinking of growing it again.
John.B
Wahhhhh! I'm cryin' :-( All that gorgeous hair, gone... (sob!)
Okay, now that you've made me depressed, please tell me you plan on growing it back someday?
Carol
I had long hair for about 8 years and recently cut if off last yyou siear. Just thought i would share some pics with the forum.

I remember seeing the video on You tube my first though was WHY has he had it all cut off I must say you had great looking long hair though It looked awesome in the Braid before you had it all cut off ......You had hair most guys dream of having but you had it cut off ....I hope you are considering growing it back though ........How did you wear your hair when it was that long mainly ? as like i say It looked awesome in the braid before the woman cut it well i hope you grow it back looks alot better long
Axel
I mostly just kept it as a pony tail. I used the special rubber bands that are more like plastic than rubber. They don't pull out as much hair. I never really braided it unless a girl was playing with it :)
Oh no NikG...say it ain't so!!!
Your hair looked awesome. I wish I could get that length and have it look that good. Anyway, hope you're happy with the outcome. Do you miss it yet? Are you going to grow it out again?
Take care,
Brett
Well, You HAD awesome hair. I'm sorry to hear that the job didn't last long. Years worth of growth chopped off for a job that only lasted a short time. I guess next time you'll think twice about cutting it for a job.
Fantastic, just amazing, congratulations on your wonderful hair!!
