And I don't want to get into details but... I have been trough a very tough situation, and I really tought it would last for a long while. Actually, it seems to be settling down now, and there is really no need to leave the forums.
But still, I will stop posting pictures of my face, and of my sister's. I figure I have to assume a more protective position about our image.
Some people asked, and I'm answering: noone on this board ever did a bad thing to me, that was not the problem. The problem is that I got to involved with some people, and it brought new visions to me. What happened was good, but the view from my parents was that I needed to quit the internet.
But, after talked out, I decided to keep the boards and the casual friends I did, and to keep the people I got attatched to, but from now on keep everyone else casual, knowing that I can't expect anything too big.
I love this place, and all of you know it. I'd like to be readmited in the directory, altough I will be using a picture that hides my face a little.
I want to apologize if I worried you guys, but the situation has been hard. But it's calming down now and I'm fine. I always was so happy towards life in general, and I intend to keep being like this.
I really didn't think my present was that important here anymore, but I am glad that you guys like having me here.
I want to thank everyone for the amazingly sweet replies I had yesterday, I really wasn't expecting. Thank you.
I will try mailing Justin with new data for my new info on the directory, as well as a new picture. Thank you so much eeryone, for everything... I owe you quite a lot.
João David ^^... I was stupid asking for being removed, because I knew I would be back soon, but I was feeling so dramatic and hopeless yesterday. And, my picture had to be removed. That's all now...
Thank you so much ^^
Joao,
I feel so much better knowing what is going on. I had all these fears like something very tragic had happened to you. I also see your concerns too, as personal safety should always come first. I know that there is probably a lot of forums out there that problems could arise. However, I do not see any problems rising from this board and I am so happy to hear you will be staying around here. :-)
Take care,
Mike
glad to hear it dude...means I can get to speak to you now...seeing as I didn't have the chance to before...im so glad you made the decision to come back on this board.
You had me a bit worried there, but i'm happy that you're back on the board again:)
Simon
Glad to have you back with us, Joao. I am glad your problem wasn't as serious as you thought it would be and that everything is working out for you. See you around.
Man I am glad (and relieved) you are back Joao, I have too active an imagination for my own good. I am so glad you are safe. This place is like family too in its own way and when something out of character happens to one of us we worry!
Welcome back Joao :)
Hi João,
There is no need to apologize at all, João, we can only imagine what you have gone through! Thank you for posting this explanation to ease our concerns, and I am delighted that you will continue to be a member of our wonderful commmunity. Your contributions to the hyperboard have always been absolutely outstanding, and you are one of the most liked and respected guys here, your enthusiasm is loved by all. I sincerely hope for only the very best for you in the future.
Take care,
David

Da' Bruce'ster
i'm glad you're coming back and sooner than expected. hopefully, everything will continue to remain stable and calm.
I'm glad you're OK
I'm glad you're back João. You are a positive force on this board and would have been missed. Sometimes just stepping back a bit, evaluating what you're doing, you realize that taking it down a notch is all that is required.. Good for you.
Take care,
Bruce
Greetings Joao David:
So happy to hear that you are OK and that there is nothing wrong with you physically. Sometimes it's good to think things through for a day or two while you sort things out. Glad you are sticking with the board!!!
Be well,
Max L.
Well I am happy to be able to say WELCOME BACK João!!:)))))I know you didn't need to explain your situation to us but since you did I too am glad it wasn't something worse as ones mind always fears the worst.I too am happy that no one from this board caused you any problems as I always felt this was a place where you could speak to the users as if they were your close friends. We all have our opinions but in the end longhairs seem to be a friendly bunch for some reason.Anyway glad you decided to stick with us as I always enjoyed you posts to the board and obviously the fantastic pics you submitted.Looking forward to seeing you here again!Mark
Hey Joao! :-)
Great to have you back. This place just wouldn't be the same without you. Glad you found out what you mean to all that post to this board. Very much liked and appreciated more than one could possibly ever know. You are one of the long hair heros of inspiration here for all. :-)
Take care
Justin~
Well, you are important here, and I'm so happy to see you able to post and participate. Don't worry about any explanations; we all have things happen to us that seem devastating initially and then after a few days calm down. You have such a good and positive attitude so much so that there are few things that can hold you down for long. Your posts are always like a ray of sunshine. And, I'll tell you this too. Many things that you post display a high level of discerning deductive/conclusive ability that the average 17-19 year old does not possess. I just mean that you are smart in plain English. You are just a good guy too, so don't let anybody tell you that you're not. Ever.
OK, glad your back, um abraco, Bragi
you prob know I have been a big fan of your hair since I started posting (prob about 2 years ago, off and on though)
sorry to hear about your situation, and that you won't be showing a lot of pics anymore, but you know whats best.
peace
Going through hard moments is a part of life, good thing you managed to handle it.
Welcome back.

Hey João, it is good you worked things out and everything is now settling down. Keeping a bit lower profile should help too. It is good that you are going to stay after all. You have probably the thickest hair of anyone here. It should look fantastic at waist length. Keep growing it for sure.
Absalom
You were missed deeply even for that short amount of time. You mean more to this board then you will ever know.
peace

I can just hear the collective sigh of relief from board members. I hope to get to know you more in the future, now that you are staying put. Welcome back!
Carol
I'm glad to see you're staying! The MLHH would have lost someone very special if you left. :)
Dear João, time will tell you if your parents were being overcautious or if they had realistic concerns. In the meantime it was good you decided to listen to them. I'm glad things aren't as bad as they seemed at first.
Elizabeth
Thats great news João David, see you around.
Best regards Dave
Hi Joao,
Glad you decided to stay and sad to hear of your tough experience, whatever it was.
While you don't have the longest hair of those on the board, you've been an inspiration in other way, especially your spirit as a longhair and your artistic talent.
Keep it growing man.
Cheers
Charles
While I don't know the details in your case i'd point out
it's scary how much information is posted on the internet.
After an experience a number of years ago I post
exactly zero personal information about me on the internet
including zero pictures.
A number of years ago someone was able to post my exact
street address, phone number, and other personal inforamtion
so after that I give out exactly no personal information.
I'd assume from your post that your parents got spooked by
some personal information that was available on the web and
that freaked them out.
I'd suggest doing a google search on internet stalking,
the amount of privacy you don't have on the web, and
just how much information can be obtained on the web.
Something as simple as entering your name and/or phone
number in Google.
I'd also point out a number of employers when they consider
hiring you do a google search to find out what you
have on the web.
Some food for thought.
Two week s ago, my boss, who passionately believs in the Internet, gave a talk and related an instance where some bloggers hired by a Democratic running for president were exposed for some strong views they posted on the Internet and as a result were terminated.
The thought then raced through my mind that with employers and so on able to search on your name for what wrote on the Internet before and use that information against you means that the so-called "freedom of speech" we have on the Internet is in reality a myth, unless we disguise ourselves using a psuedonym, though I guess experts will be able to crach that disguise and crack our real identity from the IP address orur domain and so on.
So the Internet is a public place, just like being out in the street, so it's best to have your wits about yoursels and be on your best behaviour in cyberspace, as you would in a public place.
So just as you wouldn't drop your pants on Main Street, don't do so in cyberspace either.
