i was in The Hague (netherlands) and wanted to go to a club, i couldn't get in one, and at one the guy wouldn't allow me cause i had long hair he said, he said that if i did it in a ponytail it was okay!
I would never imagine that in a place so liberal as the Netherlands a thing like that would happen. I'm sorry for you men. What kind of club was it?
Maybe the State is liberal, but this does not mean, that all People think the same Way ! It's not good, but it is so !
Okay, it is not okay at all, but if it is okay, when you put it into an ponytail, than do it ! It's not that bad, it's not okay, but it also is not the End of the World ! ;-)
i'm never gonna go back to The Hague again, i live nearer to Amsterdam, and Amsterdam is much cooler, they always let me into the clubs in Amsterdam.
about Netherlands being liberal, i think that that is only based on the fact that weed and prostitution is legal here.
People in the army can have long hair in the Netherlands. That's not liberal?
I think it is ! But this doesn't make the Guy at the Door liberal ! Life isn't cool at all ! It is so, and we cannot change it !
I didn't know that in the Netherlands people (men i presume) can have long hair while in the army. So not everything is bad after all (:
He may have been power-tripping, club policy, or an excuse cuz he didn't want you specificially to enter the club and used it as his excuse. Other possibilities, too. You could have asked to see the manager, (asked people entering and exiting if they had seen long haired people without ponytail. If you entered with ponytail, you could have undone the ponytail, etc.
