I loved the backgrounds of my hair shots from July in the National Parks but I thought my hair looked rather ratty in them as I was somewhat sweaty from hiking and didn't really have time to brush it.
Anyway, I thought I'd chart where I am in a more controlled environment....
I like how the plum color has now faded slightly. About 3/4 inch of roots is now showing but I have no plans to color again. I'm thinking the continuing slow fade will leave the highlights I was hoping for. I detect no damage whatsoever from the dyeing. Going darker with a "temporary" color is the easiest on your hair's health.
You look like Travolta in this one. (i mean it as a complimint!)

Haha, well, thanks!
Wow. You have amazing hair. Really. That's pretty much my dream head of hair.
Hey man,
Thanks for the awesome compliment!
Awesome pics as ever Jason! I am glad that no harm came to your hair from the dye. I have never thought about dyeing my hair but for a little while before I joined the MLHH. I had a big patch of grey right in the front that really stood out from the rest and I thought it made me look OLD. It almost kept me from growing out in fact because it conflicted with the image of what I wanted to see in a long haired version of me. Who wants to see long gray hairs, I thought. Dyeing might solve that problem. But dyeing is a headache and lots of work and I am lazy plus I have always been a very natural and unassuming person and dyeing to hide something didn't feel right to me.
I decided to try growing out anyway and I was so surprised when people here noticed the grey that I always tried to hide and liked it! It took awhile of people telling me that but eventually I came to enjoy it as a sign of uniqueness here.
You're choice of color is very cool to see, I am glad you are enjoying it more as time goes on, much better than the other way around :)
Fantastic hair Jason. Take care
Thanks Chris!
I think that streak of gray you have is very cool and I'd definitely not dye it.
I have a few grays showing up but it was more just a desire to try something different without doing damage.
Hi Jason,
As always, your hair is a genuine inspiration to EVERYONE. You probably have the best hair of anyone on the entire hyperboard, its thickness, overall condition, and shine are OUTSTANDING! I can only imagine how awesome your hair will look when you reach your goal of belt length, or even better, classic length.
All the best,
David
Thanks a lot David.
I can only hope it will maintain its thickness for a lot more length. Dare I hope until classic length? That would be so cool but I wouldn't go there if I had severe taper.
Looks fantastic, as always, Jason! That plum color really suits you well, especially now that it's had time to fade a bit and is more natural-looking. Keep up the good growth. =)
-James
Hey James,
Thanks! So far the plum is acting as it did when I dyed my hair this same color three years ago. I definitely prefer it faded a bit.
Looking forward to your next update,
Jason
Looks nice! I dig the colour, cool highlights:)
Simon
Thanks Simon. I like the mix of color highlights leave.
Hi, Jason. Your hair looks fabulous dude. It looks very healthy and shiny. You've got some major shine going on. Also, I really like how this color looks on you. Thanks for a great update, Jason. Take care.
Hey Chris,
Thanks about my color and shine. This dye actually seems to have improved the condition of my hair.
Hey Jason: Your hair is...
H=healthy A=awesomely thick I=incredibly long R=radical
BTW: You've got kind of a Neil Young (when he was younger) look going on. Has anyone ever told you that (besides me)?
Rust Never Sleeps...Bruce'ster
Hey Bruce'ster,
I like that acronym! Thanks :D
I don't remember anyone saying that about Neil Young and me but I'll have to check out some of his younger pics.
Thanks again,
Jason
Hi Jason. What, no braids? I'm shocked. Your hair looks great as usual and the color is really nice. It's really getting long. How is New England this summer? I'm thinking about driving to Providence RI to visit my college roommate in August and then heading to Boston for a day, if I can get the time off. I miss Fanuel Hall and the North End Restaurants. Have a great weekend.
Del
Hi Del,
Thanks very much.
That's cool you're coming up this way. Let me know if you make it to Boston.
Jason
Greetings Jason:
Your pics always give me motivation...especially today after hearing repeatedly that I should get my hair cut. Thanks for sharing all your fine pics!
Cheers, Max
Hey Max,
Thank you! I'm really happy that my photos can serve as a source of motivation for you. Don't listen to the negativity. Your hair is looking great!
Jason
Love the shirt! I guess when you said non-nature, you meant the colour of your shirt too! lol I wear shirts like that (and Hawaiian shirts) all the time!
Good looking mane too,
-Christian Epp
Just kidding, really awesome Jason. David is right, you have one of the best manes here.
Bruce
Well, I thought the park pics looked great. Your hair looks terrific no matter what the setting.
Carol
Thanks Carol.
I'm glad you enjoyed both sets.
You are so lucky Jason. No matter how you show all of us photos of your hair in ANY style............it always looks superb!
I doubt that the colouring that you used is going to give you hardly any damage as well.
Your photos are always inspirational. Thanks for sharing them with all of us.
Justin~
Thanks so much Justin. I'm glad my photos can serve as inspiration.
Very strange color :)
You really have awesome hair, Jason !
Bye
Vivien
Hey Vivien,
Thanks......I agree the color is a little "strange" but I think in a good way. :)
Hey Jason...
I too like the slightly faded plum look. It gives your hair alot of character (along with the length as well). You are truly a strong motivator for us with the short hair.
I meant to post on your trip out west here. The photos were fabulous. It looks like you had a great time. Did you manage to make it to Colorado?
Take care and keep up the great work..
Be Blessed...
Tristan
Hi Tristan,
Thank you! I'm especially glad when it is said that my photos provide motivation. Having long hair is so worth the intermediate stages.
I flew into Denver where my friend lives. We left from the airport the same day and headed north into Wyoming. We got as far as Lander where we spent the first night. The next day we started our adventure in Yellowstone.
