Hello everyone,
This is sort of an improvised update (I'll post a more thorough update later on), but I thought I'd share a few photos from a little trip I took this weekend. Unfortunately I had to postpone my vacation to Portugal until October, but my friend Lindsey is awesome and decided to take me on a roadtrip through 5 states in 24 hours (Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia).
There's nothing quite like a camera in the face at 8am after sleeping for 4 1/2 hours. This was taken in Asheville, North Carolina.
Lindsey looking a little grumpy in front of the fountains at Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park...
Being blinded by the sun...
And the obligatory hair pics (after no shower or shave, of course =P)
Finally, a nice view of the Atlanta skyline for y'all =D
There are a bunch more photos on my site now, so feel free to check them out. I'm posting from Kentucky, but I'll be back up in Indiana later this evening. Move-in for university is on August 14th, and as I said, I'll post a more thorough and less grungy update around then. Thanks for looking! =)

My Site
Hi James,
It may not be Portugal, but is is still an outstanding update nevertheless, and really shows what a GREAT photographer you are! These are just fabulous photos of Atlanta, one of the cities I hope to swing through on my 2009 road trip.
As for your hair, it just keeps getting better and better with every update, it is thick, healthy, and has great natural waves. And just look at that tail, you are getting very close to that day when everything fits in the tie! I really wanted to congratulate you on the outstanding job you are doing in growing your hair so far, and also wanted to say it is a genuine pleasure having you with us on the team.
My best to you,
David
Thank you very much, David! Unfortunately I can't claim much credit for the photography, as it was my friend who took most of the shots. =) As for the tail, I actually was able to get everything tied together a couple weeks ago, but it was after I had brushed my hair nearly completely straight. Maybe that'll be part of my real update in a week or so.
All the best to you, too! =D
-James
Very nice pictures, thanks for posting.
One question though, did you dye your hair and I didn't notice on an update, or has it always been this colour? Especially in the first picture.
Hi Derf... Thanks, but no, I don't dye my hair. It seems the color is quite versatile, depending on the lighting. Not exactly sure why, but it is kinda cool, I suppose. =)
-James
Hey James
What a fantasic improvisation this was. Your hair is really now taking-off big time and is looking just so outstanding! All of that time invested in growing it out is really paying off. A year from now you will not even realize how fantastic your hair is going to look.
All the best-
Justin~
Thanks a bunch, Justin! Can't wait for another year's progress... =D
-James
Great pics and the hair looks great too. You're in my stomping grounds!! How do you feel about the humidity in the southeast??
I really enjoyed that part of the country. I'd never been there before, but the people were friendly and the landscape gorgeous. Thanks for the comments, Allen. =)
-James
Hi James just wanted to say your pics are great and the hair is really comming along nicely.Atlanta looks really cool in these pics and it kind of funny as I was in Atlanta just over a year ago but never made it to the main part of the city where you guys were.I was there for the Nascar races which was not near downtown.Actually later this month I'll be heading through Virginia for the races in Bristol,Tenn.Very nice area for that part of the state.I'll be sure to take some pics and post them.Anyway I'll be looking forward to your next big update.Mark
Thanks, Hairball. I was surprised how easy it was to get around the city and see the sights. Hope you have fun at Bristol. Saw plenty of signs for it, but decided to go the other direction. =P
Anyways, looking forward to your pics!
-James
AHH, Dude, I was in Atlanta just this past Wednesday. Next time you make the "Southern Swing" drop me a line.
Cool pictures, and now you know why I have only one good hair day per month with all the humidity and heat!
Bragi
You know, Matt, I thought about you as we were driving into Atlanta, but I didn't have web access. Hopefully sometime I'll get down there again and maybe we can meet up. =)
And yes, the humidity was killer... of course, it didn't help that I didn't take a shower that morning either. =D Take care, man.
-James
Cool pictures, James, and that's quite the road trip. Sorry to hear you trip was postponed, but at least it's still part of your plans. I like the picture where your bangs are sweeping over your nose the best, rather amusing actually.
These photos may show the "joys" of humidity, but I think they also show off your great natural color/highlights. Keep having fun!
Mouse
Thanks for the comments, Mouse! Really I didn't do much, other than not brush my hair, so all that sweeping and waviness was really just bedhead. ;) Anyways, I like certain aspects of humidity, but the frizzies aren't one of them. Oh well... again, thank you again! =)
-James
But now your hair has gotten long enough that you don't suffer anymore from the dreaded 'bed-head' look.
But you can still smile that nice smile in spite of it.
It looks like you had a good time travelling. I think the grunge look is allowed for vacationers, not everybody can do the daily shower, shave, etc. The hair is looking spectacular, as usual.
Carol
Thank you very much, Carol! I agree... the grunge look isn't so bad for tourists, though I tend to not make it a habit. ;)
-James
Sounds like you had had a good time but exhausting (5 states- 24Hrs!!) As usual you bless us with great pictures whether or not it was you behind the camera. Your hair continues to look healthy and just as important, LONGER!
Keep on growin'
Bruce
I still can't figure out what possessed us to do so much in so little time, but I enjoyed it. Thanks, Bruce! =)
-James
Great photos. Looks like you had a nice trip. And your hair is getting long now, congratulations!!

Hey James...hair looks great!!! I hope you enjoyed your visit to Atlanta. I've been living in Maryland now since '88 and I miss my home very much. It's always good to see pics of that place!!!
I almost got sick at the World of Coca-Cola...I think I tried a sample of every drink, which adds up after a while. My favorite was a Pineapple flavored soda from Japan or someplace.
Next time you should go to the top of Stone Mountain. The breezy top makes for some great wind-blown hair pics. (The pic is of me when I last took my longhair journey...it's about that length again now.)
Take care...thanx for the pics...and keep it growin', y'all!
Brett
I know there were a few times I thought to myself "I wonder if we'll run into Georgiaboy?", but I didn't realize you were actually in Maryland (another beautiful state). Thanks for the compliments and that's a very nice photo! We only made it outside of the World of Coke due to time constraints and cost, but having a Coke outside was just as good for me. =)
-James
Hey James, your hair is coming along well. I see in this photo that your hair has a lot of red in it. I always thought it was more brown. Anyway, hopefully everything goes smoothly for you when you start college. Keep growing your hair for sure. It will settle down and get more manageable with added length.
Absalom
Thanks, Scott! Yes, my hair does have a lot of red, as my father's side of the family is nothing but redheads. =) A lot of it, however, I think is due to lighting when I take photos. Anyways, thank you for your wishes and again for your compliments.
-James
Hey James ...
the pics are great man. It was good to see you were able to do a road trip before getting back for school. How did you enjoy the humidity down south??? I know ... it sucks.. Great update; the hair is looking better and better every day...
Tristan
Thank you very much, Tristan. I usually don't mind humidity, but I always experienced it with short(er) hair. Oh well... Anyways, looking forward to your next update. Stay well! =)
-James
Hey James, it does indeed look like you had fun on your whirlwind tour of the South. What are you running for president too? :) Thanks for sharing the pictures it is always great to see people out and on vacation and taking pictures of things new to me. Hey you looked fine even if you didn't get to shower and shave, I wouldn't dare post pics like that lol.
I hope everything goes smoothly for your expedition to Portugal this fall.
Take care
Haha! Thanks, Chris. No, not running for president... yet. ;) We had a great time, and I'm definitely still looking forward to Portugal.
Thanks for your comments, appreciate it! Stay well. =)
-James
this is awesome!! i love random road trips. it's good to have friends like that. (it's kind of funny that at this point the two of you have hair that is so similar in style.) nice to see that you had sucha a nice time - even if it wasn't portugal.
peace,
nic
Hahaha... We actually compared and my hair is longer than hers. It was very fun and we had a lot of quality time together, which is what I needed with her. =)
Thanks for your comments, Nicole.
