I know that shampooing too often can dry out hair, but what about conditioning often? I don't shampoo every day, but I do condition every day. I have thick, coarse, wavy hair. I'm wondering if conditioning less would keep it less frizzy and more managable and straight.
Yes. Conditioning is highly recommended by many people on this board. YOur best bet is to talk to a stylist who is favorable to long hair and find out what products they would recommend. Or, if you are not the bashful type, ask other longhairs (male or female) what they use.
I for one prefer Pantene's product line, particularly the "smooth and silky" line.
Yeah, Pantene Smooth & Sleek is the brand I use too.
Does Pantene conditioner have that strong smell?
I used to use the Pantene shampoo but I swear the stuff would infest my pores and I'd have to smell it coming from deep inside my skin for 2 days before it got flushed out.
Right now I'm using Physique straightening conditioner which is pretty nice.
I don't notice a strong smell.
No more noticeable than any other stuff.
I've reduced shampooing to almost once every 2 weeks! Just wash it with warm water every couple days. I don't have any dandruff or oil buildup or odor.
My hair is naturally thick and wavy, so shampoo wash just results in too much body and frizz.
I guess I'm being a little weird but it seems to work ok.
