I haven't had a haircut since I believe, March 9th. However, I did go in about a month ago to get it thinned out a bit. I am growing impatient, it seems like my hair grows incredibly slow.
I'm just wondering roughly how much longer will it take to reach this length?

I want to get there, but it's a real pain getting through this odd stage.
Hello, welcome here !
Tyler hasn't very long hair, so I think one year will bring you the length that you want.
Bye

I know how you feel I was once like you, now I am happy with my hair after 3 years of growth. The best thing to do is to stop thinking about your hair, do other things to take your mind off it and the time will soon come to pass. BTW no more trims until after 1 year!
If you want to get there the fasted way of all you have to stop all thinning-out haircuts..........and ANY haircuts for that matter and just let the hair grow untouched for a couple of years at least.
And of the "Odd stage' (Awkward stage), it is something that cannot be avoided. If you can try and make going through it fun with all kinds of crazy (but some really neat looks) as your hair grows all for the better.
Oh yes, and one other thing, avoid looking at the mirror as much as possible and finding all kinds of faults with your hair while it is in process of growing out.
The main thing is to get from point A to point B with the results of having long hair. Everyone is impatient about wanting long hair right away, so you are far from being alone.
Best of luck to you.

Hey Jordan: (A little reverse psychology) You, like the rest of us, are anxious to have long hair. It is a strong desire! Long hair is an important part of "who you are/want to be" and an authentic expression of yourself. So...of course you're impatient. And, as we all know, anything worthwhile takes work and is worth waiting for. I doubt if you woke up tomorrow and, sha'zam, you're hair was long you'ld appreciate it very much. (well maybe...but you get my drift.) Anyway man, your (and mine, and all of our) impatience is just part of the process and a reminder that what we are doing has meaning. Many here have said that we grow as much INSIDE as we do OUTSIDE of our heads during this journey. So, hang in there, endure the pain and awkward stage and before you know it you'll be a (patient) long hair!

Great reply Bruce'ster it's exactly what I needed also. Anything worth having is worth waiting for just set back and enjoy, cool.
Holy christ that guys worse then Michael jackson =0
Decent hair though... Its hard to say how long it will take, considering we dont know your hair's length from the start. If you started from say, a buzz, I'd say a year from the start..maybe sooner. So only like, six-seven months more I'd say. Though, I dont know how fast your hair grows either. :P
How long is your hair now? Depending on where you are starting from, you can get to Steve Tyler's length in a year or less. But first, YOU HAVE TO LEAVE YOUR HAIR ALONE. This means NO TRIMS! Read this board, and you will find lots of creative ideas for weathering the awkward stage.

If you are impatient, you are likely to give up before you have finished your pilgrimage. May I suggest another perspective? Enjoy the adventure. Not all the roadways will be necessarily smooth, but this is an opportunity. Not just an opportunity: a gelegenheit. It is important for you to spend lots of time before a mirror as you discover the new you being born. You may ask who you wish to be in this long hair world you are entering. It is a religious passage to choose to belong to a minority of perhaps no more than 10% of all men. For me, it means entering a gender fair, honest, caring, peace loving sub culture. Use gels, wear bandanas, talk to supportive friends and ignore those who criticize you only for your long hair.
Later in life it may even be more difficult. If you want long hair, hang in, suffer mildly for 18 months, and when you can tie your hair back securely and wear it all day without worrying about it you can be glad. And even then, you can reach up to touch your hair just to remind yourself it is there, and you can feel very good..

Thanks for the great advice everyone.
I guess I will truely test my will-power here. This is the furthest I've ever made it. I have set out to grow long hair before, only to change my mind and end up getting it cut. I hope I can stay dedicated to it now, as I'm the farthest along I've ever been (I think).
