I have two questions to long haired men
1.My hair is short. I think that long hair would încrease my self confidence. My question to all long haired men: is this true ? and is this maybe the main reason why you let your hair grow ?.
2.pony tail: why do most me wear a pony tail ?
1) I grew my hair to below shoulder length because I like the looks of long hair. Yes, it definately does increase your self confidence;
in part because you learn to ignore those who try to put you down with their selfish comments.
2) IMHO most men wear a pony tail because it's easy and because they don't know what else to do with it.

Before answering, a little background. Almost everyone on this board would call my hair short. It's over my collar in back, can fall over my ears (I usually comb it back), bangs would partially obscure my eyes. People not on this board would call it on the long side.
I like it. That makes it the right length.
If you like your image better, then your self image is improved. The important thing is to like yourself. It almost goes without saying that men know they look better with longer hair; otherwise Rogain wouldn't be so popular. (Have you ever thought that the kids who are shaving their heads today are the same ones who will be buying Rogain in about 10 years?)
As to the pony tail, probably simply to keep the hair out of the way.
And don't forget, that it's more comfortable, at least in my experience. Also gets rid of some of the headaches that I used to always have when my hair was short.

I think most guys wear a ponytail for the convenience. I'm one of the rare ones who does not, I like the look of long flowing hair. However, if you do this, you have to use hairspray to keep it under control.

While LH is mostly worn in a ponytail for convenience, I would prefer is loose. I wear it in a ponytail primarily because it looks more "professional" in a relatively conservative business organization.
The hair should "bunt" out on the sides. It is nice to have a head that is wide as it is high, whether in a triangle or a square or a ball. But sometimes the picture of the head gets so BIG that the hair on one side or the other gets cut out!
Frankly, I like to wear the hair out. A pony-tail is just a way to hide your long hair, by having it figuratively behind you.
I'm a girl so I cant answer Q1.
I have waist long hair and wore a loose ponytail while in college because its simple, easy and keeps the hair out of the way. A very windy day (or walking between buildings with permanent multi-directional cross winds) only affects the fly-away strands. With loose hair you need to grab all of the hair and hold it down to 1) Keep it from becoming a tangled mess 2)keep the part neat and 3) maintain visibility.
When I graduated and started working the amount of fly-away whisp I had was a bit excesive to look neat. They either couldn't make it into the ponytail by a little bit or had originally been in the ponytail but were a bit short and had worked thier way out. Since I didnt want to take the time to bother with gel (which is damaging) I started wearing my hair loose again while at work. I still prefer to tie it back when Im doing something active.
