anyone know the type of mustache-beard thing those guys have? James Hetfield of Metallica in the early 90's late 80's and Lemmey Kilmister of Motorhead have a unique mustache-beard that id like to grow, but im not sure how long it would take to get mine like thiers... it aint real long, but id like it to be grow back without much fuss if i shave it off for say a birthday party or whatever...
how long do you think it'd take to grow? i know it will vary from person to person but your answers will give me a general idea on what to expect
Everyone's growth rate varies, Jesse, and mine takes forever. Yeesh. Six mos. to a YEAR to get that James Hetfield/Lemmy Kilmeister look, which is, f.y.i., a combination of handlebar moustache with a goatee, not, as one might think, a "longer" version of a Van Dyke, which is an attached and neatly trimmed moustache and goatee. Who names these styles anyway?
I desported that look years ago, definitely due to my allegiance to heavy music. Definitely! Then, some blue-spikey-haired Sid Vicious wannabe called me a "Salty Dawg" at some concert . . . a what?! That was the end of it. Shaved.
Keep rockin' out, man,
Quenyan
i always wanted to grow a "hetfield" like that , but i (still ?) haven't enough mustache to grow one... :'(

My hair journal
lol same here, so I decided to try and make my hair look like cliffs before he died as homage to metallica, its pretty easy for my hair type (brush 24/7)
I didn't know either of those guys so I tried to find photos to see what style you are talking about. I found 2 different styles on Hetfield: a long moustache-less goatee and a Franz Josef (a combination of moustache with connecting sideburns). I couldn't find any decent photos of Kilmister...
In most adult men, a Franz Josef like his would take around 8 to 12 weeks. That is about the time it takes for the whiskers growing from the top of the moustache to reach the lip line.
The long goatee would take considerably longer - perhaps 6 to 8 months.
