For members of this board who may be concerned about hair loss, I thought you might find this interesting, from Men's Health:
"Flax may halt a receding hairline. In a recent study, Taiwanese scientists gave a daily 50 milligram (mg) dose of lignans , disease-fighting compounds found in flaxseed, to 10 men who were losing their hair. After 6 months, nine of the 10 men showed slower hair loss. Lignans are found in the flaxseed's shell, so buy ground whole seeds in your supermarket's health-food section. Taking 1 tablespoon provides the lignans you need."

Flaxseed oil is an exceptionally beneficial compound for anyone to take, especially men "over 40". Not only it is very easily found in softgel dosages of 1000 mg, and but also bottled as a liquid. Flax seed oil is said to reduce high cholesterol, and supports brain function due to its high Omega 3-6-9 fatty acid content. It further supports rigorous physical activity by lubricating the joints, thus essential for those who practice yoga, for example. As for hair health, flax seed oil nourishes the skin by reducing dryness. It also can be eaten as a salad dressing. My naturopathic physician recommends I take, at the most, 2000 mg of flax seed oil per day.
Gandharva
Very true, Gandharva! If you're taking these oils, just make sure the form you use contains lignans (which also have very powerful antioxidant properties), as these are filtered out in some forms of flaxseed oil.
