I cut my hair short.
Well, its just that I needed a change in my life to make it a little bit more interesting. And I'll add that I dont regret it. It was necessary to liven things up for my boring life and it did b/c I feel different and get different looks from people.
But during this 20 month journey, I figured something out.
That long hair is what I'm most happy with overall and sometime in the very near future (if not immediately), im gonna be starting my long hair journey over again.
But again, i repeat, i am happy with my new change, no regrets, it was just something that i needed to do. And it also served the purpose of letting me know if short or long hair makes me happier. I now know that i've found that long hair makes me the happiest although what i did seems to contradict it.
So (even tho i hardly post), i wont stop visiting and posting here b/c i will shortly commence my long hair journey once again. (at least this time, i wont be starting with a crewcut, so i gain a few months there. Thanks for all the support you guys have given me up to this point and for the same support i hope you guys will give me on my second long hair journey.
thanks again, and see you soon!

Gio,
Your post is so familiar to me because it's pretty much what I said a couple of years ago when I cut mine. I needed a change. I didn't regret doing it because, to me, growing it back out is half the fun...kinda like the change of seasons I guess.
Anyhow, best of luck to you...hope you're happy with your new look and, if you're like me, you'll grow it back out again!
Take care,
Brett
Common man! Don't tell me those damn unruly temple hairs got the best of you!! Just joking. Well, If you feel better with a short cut then good for you Gio. I hope you grow your hair long sometime again. See you around
You certainly not the first and won't be the last. But for me if 8 years is anything to go by I can't imagine having sort hair again.
Well it's a free world and of course that's your choice and if short hair suits you feel better then good for you. At the end of the day we have to feel good about ourselves and also that goes for the hair as well.
Good luck if you do grow it out again. Your hair certainly looked great from the Avatar pic.
Cheers,
John.B
Guess I don't quite understand all of this but here goes:
Many people have short hair. We are all about Long Hair here and encourage guys that are growing out their hair. We are NOT a support group for having long hair cut off. Cutting off long hair is really of no interest to such a group.
Then you mean life cannot be interesting unless you cut your hair so as to make it more interesting so therefore with no regret you had to cut off your long hair.
Well, I'm glad of that.
Then if long hair is what you are "most happy" with overall, (and you had short hair prior to growing it long) I don't think you would have had to cut it to find out. You would have KNOWN it. Anyone would choose to keep what makes them the most happy. Perhaps life is just too boring with long hair and yet on the other hand very exciting with short hair despite the fact that you will be growing it out all over again so as to become possibly bored again even though you are the happiest with long hair
which will mean to become unbored it will have to be cut again regardless of the fact that you are most happy as stated above overall with having long hair.
But you had just said earlier that "Long Hair" is what makes you the "most happy with overall" which would mean (at least to myself) that to already have known earlier what made you happy (because before this you had short hair for years anyway) must not have been so happy perhaps as you say "I am happy with my new change" despite the fact that you are happy with your Long Hair which you had cut so as to realize that you liked it.
This is a great board and I am sure you will receive support, but it just might be that not as many postings may be received if you grow out your hair, become bored and cut again to suddenly realize just what it is you like so as to keep yourself un-bored. There is just SO much that can be done with long hair styles. It is almost as if endless and I may add hardly boring at all. A TRUE Longhair would not even think of cutting to find-out.........they already know! This board is all about growing and KEEPING long hair because those that keep their hair long cherish their locks and would NEVER consider cutting it short. To cut something that is cherished appears to run counter-clockwise to what we stand for here.
I hate to do this but I have to disagree with you here Justin.
Gio wasn't asking for support after he cut his hair, he just wanted to let us know what was going on with him. I like to know what is going on with the people who post here. While cutting off long hair is "technically" not what this board is for, I am curious what people here do and I don't mind them getting the chance to either say "goodbye and thanks", or "taking a break from long hair see you later". I think that is preferable to wondering what happened to someone later on.
To me this board is more than about hair, we meet each other because of a common interest but all of us here have much broader interests than hair. To me someone doesn't become irrelevant or uninteresting just because they cut their hair. I would hope that the people I have gotten to know from here would still consider me a friend even if I cut my hair.
I can relate to Gio when he said he wanted to cut his hair to liven up things in his life. I decided to grow my hair to liven things up in my life. An outward change in appearance really can make an internal change of mood, as I suspect some of us here can attest to. The direction of the change, more hair or less, shouldn't affect our ability to see that. I think it is great that Gio found a way to make things better, I am every bit as pleased that he is happy with his choice as I am with a guy who is pleased cause he grew a bit longer. Admittedly I wouldn't care as much if it were someone we had never heard of before, but it's different for one of our own.
I don't mind someone coming back here after cutting their hair and starting over again. I haven't experienced that desire yet but maybe it will happen to me. Justin you mentioned TRUE longhairs would not need to cut to find out how important long hair is to them. I have no real idea what a true longhair is, or even if there is such a person. But I must definitely not be one :) I actually recommend people cutting their hair to find out if they should cut it or not, as they will know the answer after it is done (for better or worse).
Hair isn't that important to me (as in I would cut it for the right circumstances), so I guess I don't fit the true longhair model either. I have occasionally considered cutting my hair shorter, but never consistently as yet. I was just a bit surprised by the strength of your response Justin, just took me back a bit as you are normally the gentlest of gentlemen :)
Take care my friend!
Hey Chris
Thanks so much for your perspective and so well written. You NEVER have to hate to disagree when it comes to me ever. No way.
Hope you are feeling better these days and that it is not as hot back where you are as it is out here.
All the best Chris -
Justin~
Well I am still struggling as usual health wise, no miracles yet. Taking lots and lots of acidophilus and such, at least a hundred a day or so! So far it is merely keeping the beast somewhat at bay, but at least I can eat normal food (except sweet stuff) while on these pills.
it is cooler here the last 2 days then it has been, I am glad of that. I havent been out so often this week.
Hi Chris
As much as I am sorry about what you have had to suffer all this time, at least hearing "keeping the beast at bay" and being able to eat normal food comes as a relief to know of and that the condition hasn't become worse. You know Chris, one thing I have never been able to figure-out in life is why the nicest people in life such as yourself so often get the bad end of the stick when it comes to illness and the mean trouble-making crumbs never seem to have any troubles. Unfair. Oh, how I wish a total cure could be found so that you would feel well again. This has just been going on just too long.
Glad to hear it has been cooler where you are. We hit 104 today around 4pm.
Take care Chris and hang in there.
Justin~
Nothing wrong with differences of opinion as that is the start for food healthy debate that's for sure.

I know what you mean Gio, I started growing my hair for the very same reason. I wanted a change, a new face in the mirror :)
I have always told people here who have asked the "should I cut or not" question the same advice. Follow the 2 week rule then go ahead and cut it if you still want to. That way when it is cut you will have answered for yourself the question that nobody here can ever truly answer for others. Either you will regret it immediately and then restart the growing process ( a painful way to realize how important long hair is) or you will skip out of the salon with a lighter heart (and head). It seems you had a more complicated answer to that not asked question though lol.
I am glad you enjoy the changes in growing out and then cutting back. Nothing wrong with that. When you start the official growing out phase drop on by! I liked the reference Brett made to the change of seasons. That is a perfect description or so it seems to me since I am not you :)
Take care til next time!
