this just pissed me off, i don't know why.
Oh well you get the BS and for sure all the stereo types about longhair for sure. But as we've shown with is community we have plenty of people with longhair and growing it out and what lovely examples we have. I tend not to take notice of articles like that and ignore them.
At the end of the day keep they hair growing and avoid scissors and it's quite easy as I'd would not want to be crying into my dinner!

Hello Everyone,
I read this B.S. Blog entry, and two things stood out:
"Since I cut my hair, my coworkers respect me"
"In restaurants, I get treated with respect"
I currently work, and have long hair since 1979, and I feel well respected by my coworkers. I work in a university, and this may help.
About restaurants, I give good tips, and I am always served with a smile. Most places I eat out at in Montreal, do not have dress codes.
It is part of my "dry humour" to tell people who had poor service in places, esp. a short-haired colleague who complains about being served "with attitude", I would say something like "If you had shorter hair, you would have been respected". I usually say that to bitchy people, and they chuckle.
Have a nice day,
Georges in Montreal.
Why? Because I am more confident. My work place respects me because I know my stuff and I am very easy to work with. They would probably worry if I showed up with short hair. I keep my hair neat, clean, and tied up out of the way. I have never had an issue other then teasing, which was all in fun anyway. I am known as the Linux Hippie at work.
When strangers see me, they normally nod hello and return a friendly smile, as I always wear a friendly smile.
My two cents. :-)
Mike
I find that I have people opening doors for me, calling me "sir," giving me great customer service in stores and restaurants, and smiling at me randomly. And really, my hair just keeps on getting longer each day!
Yeah, if that picture was him, he looked good with long hair. Shame he cut it. But then again, he made an active decision to cut just as we all made an active decision to grow.
That's not him, he mentions not having a tattoo and that pic has a tattoo. That picture is amazing though, and i've been trying to find out who it is of?
If you click around in the blog entry, you can find his pictures very easily.
He had quite nice hair, it looked very good, IMO.

I think its silly if men with long hair cut their hair just because they think they will fit in easier in society. If there were more men about with long hair then people would be more used to seeing them and stop jumping to conclusions. In my opinion your doing no favours to your self or society if your a long haired bloke that gets a hair cut because of stereo typing or discrimination. Discrimination or racism are bad things and are good for no one.
