hello everyone haven't been as active on the mlhh for about a week now me and my girlfriend spent the week at the beach it was great fun but boy does it take a toll on my hair tangle city and chlorine from the pool i was washing my hair every day but heres my delema folks is that what i should be doing??? should i just be washing my hair everyday rinsing after beach and pool and th tangles my god the tangles what to do about those lol i use a wide toothed comb but even with that im loose so much more hair when we go to the beach what should i do :{ ]
I suggest showering and use a decent amount of conditioner... leave in for a bit then see what state your hair is in. Hopefully the tangles will be more manageable.
yep thats what alot of the guys are telling me to do juse to glob in th conditioner thanks for the advice man take care :{ ]
I know this may sound funny, but I would opt for wearing a Bathing cap which would protect my hair the best of all. So what what others may "think." And besides, does it really matter. You are tring to protect your mane!
lol a cap is something to consider to be honest i never even thought of it as an option ill see if i can hunt down some manlier looking ones thanks for the advice friend :{ ]
Hi,
A swim cap would be a good choice. Most male swimmers do wear them anyway. I wore swim caps during my trip to the Maldives, and they protected my hair very well :).
Do remember to wet your hair with water before putting on your swim cap, the additional layer of water on your hair serves as an extra layer of protection.
Have fun!
Hi matey,
Like Justin says the best thing to do when in the sea or in swimming in a pool is to wear a cap - which would be the proactive thing to do. But the best thing to do after swimming is get some good conditioner, stick a load of it in your hair and leave it for 20 mins or half an hour. Then rinse it out with warm water. I think this is called "deep conditioning". That should help get rid of knots and dryness.
Neil
thanks for the advice man conditioner should do the trick ill try it tomorrow since im going back tonight :{ ]
Hi Kal El,
Perhaps you could try a mild daily shampoo and condition every couple of days. That's what I've done when I've been on holiday and in and out of a pool and the sea and my hair has survived. They best way is to finger comb as Justin suggests as it dries and you should be able to get rid of the tangles. I know it's alot easier with your hair the length it is at the moment. A few minutes care is well worth it the long run. Perhaps ask you g/f to help you never know.
Great progress and keep it growing.
Cheers,
John.B
thanks for the advice man my gf told me just to rinse and not wash every day thought id get everyone else's peace of mind thanks for the advice man take car :{ ]
Kal El, All good advice so far. You are attaining a good amount of length in a short amount of time. Looks great! Keep it growing.
peace, jonalbear
thanks man take care :{ ]
I never worry about it. Just enjoy the beach or pool and wash and condition your hair when you get back to the condo. No sense in stressing about hair on your vacation!
Allen
thats the thing not really on vacation i live in miami beach is just a 20 min drive from where i live lol so the beach like my hair is a part of my lifestyle so i guess i gotta learn to live with it i guess thanks for the advice
Hi Kal El,
I think your hair looks great now, it is thick and healthy, and can only get better the longer you grow it! Justin has given you great advice about wearing a cap to avoid too much damage from salt water. Also, lots of conditioner when washing your hair can help to protect your hair as well.
The most important thing is to keep growing that great hair of yours!
All the best,
David
thank you very much david take care :{ ]
Yes, Kal El, Son of Jor El, Hope of Krypton, Saviour of Earth, future husband of ace journalist Lois Lane, et cetera, et cetera, yadda, yadda, yadda, chlorine in pool water NECESSITATES thatcha rinse in the shower after a swim. That is a caustic chemical, chlorine, one that's been proven to have carcinogenic properties, one of the reasons it's used as a gas (!) in chemical warfare.
Natural sodium hydrochloride (as it occurs in our oceans) also beats the hair up, so, rinse, rinse, rinse. Shrivels the skin up worse, too, causing premature aging.
Oh, boy! Don'tcha jus' love a pre-med student? Yes, this all from a future doctor of endocrinology . . . rinse!
Yours in healthy, chem-free, longhaired living,
Quenyan
P.S. Great photos BTW
thankyou very much my friend people keep telling me the pictures came out well when infact i took them to illustrate how bad my hair looks after the beach or a dip in the pool lol meh i guess ill take it as a compliment again thankyou its always a pleasure hearing from you take care my friend :{ ]
Hi Kai El,
Here in No. Calif. , our beaches are so cold & trecherous that most of us that live here rarely go in for a dip (our cold off-shore current comes down from Alaska, --- unlike your warm Gulf Stream that skirts along the Florida coast). But, the last time I visited my niece on Maui, I swam in the ocean there every single day (and LOVED it)! I don't remember doing anything special or out-of-the ordinary, --- other than it definitely took a lot longer to get all the tangles out, as well as dumping so much conditioner in my mane that I was afraid I'd polute the water...
I also agree that Justin has a good seggestion, though, about wearing a swimming cap as a preventative measure (although I have yet to try it myself). I also remember reading here once that somebody suggested putting a lot of conditioner in your hair BEFORE tucking it in and placing the swimming cap on your head, --- and then rinsing a LOT with fresh water from the shower, afterwards.
I wish I could help more than that; but, whenever I'm on vacation, I guess I don't mind just spending a lot of time untangling a lot (lol)!!

thank you very much ken your always a great help take care :{ ]
Just use lots of conditioner and give thanks to the creator or nature if you prefer that you have such wonderful hair.
