I have slightly longer than shoulder length hair that gets curly the minute water or humidity touches it. While I sometimes like to embrace my natural curls, I would love to wear my hair straight more often. I will often use a hair straightener, but again it curls up after exposure to anything wet. Does anyone know of a product that will keep my hair straight and not frizzy???
Thanks!
Dan,
It takes a little effort, and I know of no product, but if you buy some large green brush rollers, which I have found at the chain, Sally 's, and learn to roll your hair, you will find that it comes out straight. These rollers are about 2" in diameter, and the "picks," that are ordinarily used to secure such rollers are too short, but at any grocery you can find very thin wooden skewers which have on pointed end, and cut them to about 4" and you can secure your rollers.
I specify "brtush" rollers because they are easy. Professionals can do this for you on other types of rollers, Beware or be careful with the velcro type for they may pull your hair.
Most women enjoy using them on their friends, and once you have done it a couple of times you can do it yourself.
20 - 30 minutes under a drier will do it, or an hour sitting under a fan while you read your homework assignments or write a paper, or two hours simply walking around home doing what you need to do, and your hair will be dry, and you will be surprised how straight it is.
If it is really humid, then after you comb it you may wish to use some non scented hair spray.
Many guys resist this for they associate using mechanical aids on their hair with things that only girls do.
Ask your sister, your mom, your neighbor, your woman friend to "roll my hair so it will be straight," and I am confident that they will do it for you unless they are exceptionally uptight. Most sane women like to see men who will step out of the box, and you do not need the others.
Think about it. Girls brush their teeth, no? This does not make them feminine or masculine.
Men need to climb out of the box that traditional gender roles have imprisioned us in, including that idea that men may not have long hair.
