I'm 10 months in, and my hair is well into T.A.S. When it's wet, it's kind of like nuttidave's, but as it dries out it gets super-puffy. I figure it'll sort itself out eventually.
Last weekend I was feeling really lousy (personal reasons, unrelated to hair). When walking home, I passed a bar, and a black man standing on the sidewalk looked at me and said:
"*Love* the afro, man! Can we trade?"
His hair was poofy, but not quite as long as mine. I'm not sure if he was growing his hair out or not.
I thanked him and declined the exchange. But it put a smile on my face, right when I needed it.
awesome keep up the fro man!
When I kept my hair shorter than it is now (although longer than most guys I knew) I was convinced that my hair would just turn into a giant afro if I let it grow out. Turns out, with proper hair care knowledge and support from places like MLHH, I realized my hair will grow down into long curls over time. Not that I dislike the afro style in any way, I simply don't feel it suits my lifestyle.
In any case, your hair will probably turn out great. Good luck in your hair travels.
Peace,
Ryan
Excellent.
I know very well what you mean. . My hair is more wide than long, ofetn framing my face in a curly cloud. I'm at 16 months and I figure I've a year to go before the poofy part of the hair (my hair hangs about 4 inches before curling up, now) hangs below my ears, making the look a bit less afro-esque. Seems we travel the same road, Hairy Ken. Best of luck with the growing. (I use a product called göt2be hottie instant frizz mender(?) it is in a blue, teardrop-shaped pump bottle and smells like a mild piña colada. It helps the hair to be less frizzy without the dry feel of gel.)
I wish you all the best!
Shawn
(I'll post an update pic so you can see what I mean)
