I've been posting here on and off for quite a while now and notice that a word is coming into more and more common use... style.
Just out of curiousity I was wondering if any of the guys here have noticed a change in attitude about how guys wear their hair. My girlfriend has been trying to get me to get mine styled the same way that she wears hers and I'm thinking about doing it. I'm just wondering what peoples reaction will be.
Do any of your girlfriends or wives ask any of you guys to wear yours in specific styles or ways either just around the house or when you go out?
*Posting with the name "Biil B"? Quess I have somehow missed this name and it doesn't show-up in recent messages. The word "style" has been around for quite a while now compared to the earlier days of this Hyperboard to denote what one chooses to do with their long hair rather than just a ponytail or letting all hang loose.
*All I have noticed of late compared to previous years is a sudden larger trend of "I'm going to cut my hair." Styles such as braids, half tails, buns etc. have been brought to light quite a bit for a very long time and continue on with great interest as well as look fabulous! Reactions of other people? Impossible to know unless you have actually done it.
*Nobody has ever asked me how to wear my hair, and if they did it would do them no good in my case. I wear my hair the way I like.
Yeah. I stop in every few months or so just to see what the latest topics are.
I hope that you're wrong about the first part but definately agree on the second.
My girlfriend hasnt really asked me to wear it in a certain style, but she has said that I shouldnt wear a hair clip because its too girly. My mom also says that hair clips are "gay". I dont listen to them though, wearing a hair clip is just so much easier sometimes. I remember once, I was going to wear a hair clip to go out to eat with my parents and they actually yelled at me for it, haha some people :)
Wow, I guess that means my bandannas are gay. Bandannas are definitely masculine, and mine are tightly wrapped around a man's hair all day long!
I guess if I wore a dress, that would be "straight"???
Bill (wondering how much time your mother spends in the gay community so she knows all this stuff...)
Yeah, Bill, I guess there are mothers who never signed up for that "Gay 101" course, --- or, if she did, she needs to go back and take it all over again... It's not a difficult course, of course; it only requires paying a little attention in class. It's one of those easy & short pass/fail courses. Looks like she failed (lol)!!

Well as soon as I have long enough hair and find the right hair accessory, I think a bun with a single horizontal hair stick through it might be a style in my usual rotation. Would that be "gay"?
And another thing, if a girl likes her guy with hair clips and accessories, wouldn't that make it "straight" to wear said clips? That the accessory would be a means towards a "straight" end, that being the romancing, wooing, and marriage of a male with a female. Not specifically saying all girls like accessories on men...but if one like accessories on the man who is courting her then I would argue it is "straight" and not "gay".
Oh, and another thing...next time someone calls your clips "gay" reply that you agree that they do exude a "happy and festive nature".
Sometimes i get so sick of all this talk about what is gay and what is not, although i've never worn a hairclip and probably will not but i don't really care if other men want to wear them, it's not exactly my business, people can look exactly how they want.
Really, your hair is yours and you should do what you choose with it. If YOU think styling your hair similarly to your girlfriends will look good on you go ahead and try it. But if you have the slightest doubt about the results I probably wouldn't do it - it would feel like a mistake from the start.
My girlfriend has never asked me to wear certain styles. She's happy to let me do what I want with my hair.

Well, my ex had expressed a desire to see my hair in pigtails. Of course, I expressed a desire to see her hair in pigtails.
absolutely man my girlfriend of three wonderful years although she has learned to live with my hair despises it lol shes always asking me to get it cut but since the number 3 all around buzz of 04 its not happening again lol
My wife thinks I should tie my hair back more often, but I do it when I feel like it.
Hey man,
I wear my hair in whatever style I feel for that day...bun, down(my favorite, braids, half-tail...you name it, I've worn it.
There is NOTHING sexually differentiating about different hair restraint styles. I an not gay, have MANY firends that are and we are all who we want to be and everyone understands that (in our very large yet close cirle that is) so we worry not about what others think.
As far as wearing it in a style recommended by others....I do it all the time. I dont wear a tail because someone tells my its more practicle, I have my hair because its me.
Now when my sister or little cousins want to play with my hair and braid it or come up with some other silly non-discript hairstyle that all 4 yearold girls have a tendency to make, I am happy to oblidge. I love it when I get to sit on the floor and have my little cousins playing with my hair. For as long as they like I will sit there, it is a great time to sit and talk (which I think most adults dont do enough with little kids) and it shows them that Big Clayton (there are two claytons in the family) loves spending time with them and is happy to make see them happy.
Sorry for the long post.

No need to apologize for that response. It was excellent.
I've seen lots of guys wearing half tails and braids but not too many other styles. A few months back I was in a store and on of the tech advisors was wearing his in a bun. I just thought that it was a pony tail until he turned sideways. It didn't strike me as being feminine or even unusual.
I have seen pics of guys on the Internet wearing all kinds of styles, it will be interesting to see where this trend goes.
My 10 year old daughter decided to braid my hair when we were out with friends in a restaurant the other day. The only problem was that she left a large lock of hair loose on one side. I left it like that rather than offend her, and tried to tuck that bit behind my ear. I'm not bothered too much by little girls wanting to play with my hair, as long as their hands aren't sticky, LOL!
If my girlfriend would start telling me how to wear my hair, i would be telling her how to wear her hair as well:)
Simon
Hahaha yeah My Wife prefers mine in a Ponytail lol dunno why though she claims it looks better for some strange reason !

Can you describe the style that she wants you to have?
Is it a specific "cut", or is it just a way to wear it with the cut you have?
