Hi there - I've attempted a couple of pics for a 21 month update. Not easy to get good ones if you try to take them yourself...anyway...should I keep going? Going a bit thinner on top but think is okay for the present - trying not to worry about that. Other thing is I'm wondering whether to revert to natural grey. Any views on that?
Looking good man. I like it. :D

Hi there,
I sat your hair looks awesome right now, it is healthy, with lots of shine, and the red colour is awesome. The thinning you mention is hardly noticeable at all, your crown area is quite similar to mine, and I certainly have no intention of stopping my growth, so there is certainly no reason why you should not continue your own journey either.
As for your question about your colour, the choice obviously has to be up to you. Your red colour here looks awesome, but long, gray hair can look really good as well.
Keep it growing,
David
Thanks for the update and it's growing out well and in good condition. When you mean you are thinking about reverting to grey do you dye it at the moment.
I've got alot of grey now and that does not bother me and you won't find me doing for dye bottle and keeping my "collar and cuffs" the same colour.
Keep it growing.
Cheers,

Hello, Firethorn.
I think the length and colour (even if a few grays are starting to encroach) are both great. If you want it longer, the look would also be becoming. I wouldn't go any shorter, though, were I you. Long hair looks good...especially when it has been well taken care of as has yours so clearly been.

Your hair looks to be absolutely fabulous!
To revert should be your decision...........though it is always of interest to get other long hair opinions. If you like the colour you have now (and know of the colouring risk damage), I would be tempted to do what made me feel happiest of all.
Best of luck to you.
Thankyou for your comments all - much appreciated. I've put another pic here as I managed to get a better one taken. I have had colour put in by a very professional stylist - I don't think it is quite as red as seems to have come out in these pictures. But I think grey hair is fabulous too and wouldn't want anyone to think otherwise - so I guess I have to make the choice!
You should definitely keep growing it. It looks very healthy and great!
If the thiness is a result of MPB, you might want to ask your doctor about Propecia (finasteride 1mg). It's expensive, and insurance doesn't always cover it. A cheaper alternative would be to use Proscar (finasteride 5 mg) and cut it into smaller pieces. Proscar is now available in a generic form. Starting NOW, before you experience even more thinning, will help you to not only keep your hair at it's current fullness, but you may also experience new growth as well.
As to coloring, it's personal choice. Some are quite comfortable and happy with going grey, others prefer to color. A semi-permanent or temporary dye is the safest. Permanent dying can do considerable damage. I use a semi-permanent dye which lightens and brightens my natural color, by reducing it two shades. Colored hair needs extra TLC. Deep conditioing treatments and leave-in conditioners help to maintain hair health.

...I'm embracing my grey so I say show it off!

Looks good from here and I came to terms with my gray years ago it adds a little something I think.

Firethorn,
Go gray if you can. I have A genetic defect, and my hair has become gradually darker through life from tow head to dark brown, with a little gray at age 73.
My SO, is 56, and has the most beautiful silver hair one can imagine. I am falsely accused of dying my hair in spite of the fact that I have a little gray in it, and perhaps more so because I have a gray beard, but as long as hair is clean and shiny, the color does not matter.
Of course, I fully affirm those who wish to amplify hair color. Because I was a tow head, I kept my hair blond for many years, but finally came to the conclusion that at my age it would look artificial, so let it go natural.
I will be posting some new pics in a while, but posting pics is always an ordeal for me.
WATCH FOR COMING ATTRACTIONS.
