my mother hasnt always been ok with me growing my hair shes never said anything against it but i know shes never been to ok with the idea. except recently shes really warmed up to it like today out of the blue she grabbed a brush and began playing with my hair french braids pigtails you name it she did it lol it was some quality bonding time :{ ] being an only child she never really got to experience having a daughter

Your very lucky in that Respected as my mother has NEVER excepted my long hair she would never Brush mine either My mother claims guys should have short hair not long short as in at least Short back n sides.
Also when she was younger my mother who use to be a part time hairdresser use to cut my hair and she use to cut it about once a month to so i never really had my hair over my ears at all but sometimes it would grow over the ears if she was to busy with other things only thing i hated it when she actually did cut it all of short.
Btw your an inspiration to the board ok you happen to come as my life seem to get very busy due to building work & working long hours at work keep up your good work in growing your mane and the support you have shown others.

Sounds and looks like you have gotten past a hurdle that plagues so many of the other guys here when growing out their hair.

My mother recently came over to acceptance. I was on vacation with her and for some reason she mentioned that I could get my hair off my neck if I tried a ponytail. I kind of shrunk for a moment and admitted that I had a few hair ties in my bag and she put a ponytail in my hair. Then she cried out of joy because she thought I looked cute. I don't think I told her that I had tried it out quite a bit at that point. But she is accepting of it and thinks it will work. BTW, I only have brothers so it may be partially the no daughter thing.
yep i think the no daughter thing is psychological or something she just seemed so happy brushing through my hair and what not thanks for the words man take care :{ ]

Great pictures there and nice to know that you mum is accepting you having longhair that is half the battle if the parents are on your side. So far the hair looks great and keeping it growing.

well my parents have never been for my hair but theyve never gone out of their way to tell me to cut it theyve always respected my choice rather then try to convince me otherwise but i know theyve never been for it if that makes sense lol its just great to see my mother enjoying my hiar as much as i do :{ ] thanks for the kind words man take care
Looks like you all had a lot of fun and if it brings your mom into the fold great. I just had to laugh when I saw pigtails after all a guy who can put a pic of himself in pigtails on the internet has to have a fantastic sense of humor. Life is a fleeting thing so we all need to be silly from tiem to time and laugh at ourselves.

Maybe your mum has started to get used to it. To be fair your hair suits you down to the ground - or I think so. Hopefully things will continue like this for you and your mum.

yep yep shes never liked the idea but she was always the first when it came to family members or school to defend my choice in having long hair so im glad shes started to warm up to it
Well the pig tails certainly show your funny side but I like a single french braid for formal occasions-suit & tie stuff. Good luck. AJ
yep yep the french braid is a style i hope to experiment with in the future my hair isnt as long as it should be so my mother put two on each side of my head lol

Ah yes, when I was in high school (and had to have short hair) I often did (brushed, braided, etc.) my mom's hair for her, so I always figure it's her turn, but she insists it should 50/50 (or sometimes 40/60). Not that it's hard to do, but it's just so much nicer to have it done for you. Kind of like massages--they're free to give, but the world seems to be in such short supply, and it's so much more fun to receive than to give sometimes. :) But it's all good; I probably do owe her something, you know, for raising me, putting up with me when I was naughty as a child(and even today), cleaning up my messes as a baby, etc. etc. etc.

I don't know if it's that she misses a daughter as much as she naturally wants to do someone's hair, and who else is available but her son? :)
