Just wondering what your opinions are on under cuts... is this a good look? And maybe it will get rid of some hair since mine is really thick?
Well there are two opinions on that both good and bad.
I have thick hair myself and have never had an undercut and if you decide you don't like it you have to wait for the underlayers to grow back. There is an old wives tale that having an undercut will keep you head cooler in summer. It does not have to be a big ordeal having thick hair and with a good hair maintenance regime it should be fine.
I'm sure other members of the community will have other opinions as well.
For my sixpence leave it as it is.
Cheers,

AND, you should add, nothing grows back as slowly as an undercut that a longhair has regretted getting.
Last summer, I gave myself an undercut, and I must say, it really did keep my head a bit cooler during the hotter days, as well as took away some of the thickness of my hair.
However, it also made some styles look incredibly weird or impossible, like a half-tail. It just doesn't look right. Luckily for me, I had a "hair accident" earlier this year and had to cut it all. Currently growing it all out again, and this time, I won't be doing the undercut.
It's a personal choice really; if you think you'd like to try it, then do it....but if you end up not liking it, it will be awkward trying to grow the undercut back without cutting ALL of your hair.
For me its a must if you keep your hair in a pony or up.. It looks cleaner for the work place as well
It also helps hair lay better
I agree. I've never regretted my undercut and still love it.
But thats JUST my opinion and I am well aware that I belong to
a very teeny tiny minority here.
Hi Adrian,
I considered an undercut years ago. It was one of these things that I (like I tend to do), put off because of lazyness. Looking back, I am almost certain now that I would have regretted it, my hair wouldn't have its volume otherwise. Who said lazyness was a bad thing :P
I think the best thing for you to do is look at some of the guys with hair similar to yours on the board in the directory, maybe to get an idea of what your hair might turn out like if you don't undercut, you know what your hair looks like at shoulder length anyway, but you might want to go longer in the future. If your real preference is to make your hair much thinner an undercut might be good for you. Make sure your decision is final though - undercuts take a long time to grow back.

To offense to anyone, it's just my opinion
To me it's a only good option for guys with long hair only if you have dreadlocks, then the hair is truly heavy. Or if a guy is more interested in a punk style than actually having long hair. I do love the rad styles but not for me, I am in too conservative an industry
I had an undercut in the past (high school), but my hair was not long like it is now, it was basically a chin length bob that was popular with some soccer players at the time, it was good then because I always wore it down and I had no intention of tying it back or growing it beyond where it was
I'd pass on an undercut unless you plan to keep an undercut. The only way to get long hair all over is to have short hair all over then medium hair all over and then medium long hair all over. The hair you cut really short will not magically grow to the length of the rest of the hair and so if you cut one part to one inch while keeping another part at four inches, three inches of growth will not produce seven inch hair but rather four in one place and seven in another. Now if you want some strange long haired do with only long hairs from the top of the head and have kind of a "willow tree" look then go ahead.
As for look, no opinion. I like my hair. What looks good for some may not look good for others. Some people look good with undercuts and some do not.
As for thickness, my hair is thick and has strength and density--in short, a good head of hair. And so, first of all, it is not bad. It does not get too hot. It is not too heavy. And as for volume of hair, hair compresses nicely. Just watch in shock as long hair condenses nicely into a bun or at the tie of a ponytail. My hair which often fills some space gets flat across my head when I pull it back and the hair goes nicely into a tail.
