So basically when my hair was in between my eye nose in length i used to do a side part and always had to push my hair out of my eye and flick it I was used to it I guess. I then went middle and liked it because it was much easier to do and I could see much better and tuck my hair behind my ears better. But now for fun I went back to the side today and I'm not sure whether its because I'm not used to it anymore or because I have a good 4 more inches of hair but I can't for the life of me figure out how to deal with the imbalance of hair on one side. I'll probably get used to it or go back to middle but I was just wondering what some of you who have a side part do. Chances are you all just don't mind like how i used to. But if you have any practical help its all appreciated.
I'll take my update photos hopefully sometime this week as my camera is fixed.

Hey dude.
I can understand ur plight. I myself tend to keep a middle-ish parting...but because of the nature of my hair (pretty curly) it tends to be a wild parting which i like best lol.
I really like a side parting and its opposite for me...I can cope a lot better with a side parting now (3 years almost), than i did when my hair was short. I guess because of the curlyness it was harder but anyways...point is I know how ya feel...side partings are still a lot harder to maintain and require more time to "put in" as it were...at least from my experience...
but hey do what makes you feel best

i don't know if i will be very helpful, but i'll weigh in anyway. although it's unusual, my natural part is off to the left side of my head. but since my hair is so long, once it's tucked back behind my ears it pretty much stays put. when i had my hair shorter i wore a lot of headbands, because they look nice no matter where your part is. they are great at keeping the hair out of your face. perhaps you should give that a try. there are plenty of styles in stores that will work for 'boy hair.'
peace,

Nic:
It's good to see a woman posting her idea's on the board. It happens more than occassionally but not nearly often enough. I think that most guys that want to wear their hair long are only inhibited by what they think women will say or think--or whatever.
For those of you that are concerned about women's opinion on the subject (and I am one) check this site out:

The comments from a lot of the women are GREAT!
Hey Animosity... I'll actually switch things up sometimes and go with a side part too. It is kinda strange at first, but after a while, I don't notice it anymore. I think the hair roots get used to laying a certain way and then brushing them another is partially to blame for that feeling.
Anyways, give it a couple days and see how it goes. Looking forward to the update. Take care. =)

You'll get used to it, like James said the hair folicals get used to going in one direction. I switched from a left side part to the right and it took about 2 weeks for it to feel "right". It took even longer to get my hand to stop trying to brush my hair from left to right.

Yeah, I have a side part as well. Do not remember which side though...yeah, mirrors mess me up with left and right...
But yeah, I know what you mean because there is an uneven distribution it seems which creates problems for bidirectional styles (because you need to artificially divide hair by volume and not just a simple linear division) or just the dynamics of the hair (I think it gives a twist to my ponytail) or the fact that more hair on one side escapes the tail.
Anyway I usually come all of it straight back with an angle opposite to the side of more hair which seems to even things out decently.
when you part you put more hair on one side leaving less on the other, so the muddle part is more even , so phsically this isn't much you can do about the uneveness/ but you can make a more diagonal part to balance out the ratio
