Hi there,
I've always been aware of the music that Eyefear have produced and really enjoyed their material. I see that they did an album launch gig this past weekend in OZ.
In 2003 I took some time off and did a round the world trip and I heard that Eyefear were going a show in Melbourne so it seemed like a good excuse to go to Australia and see they band live. I was met by Danny at the airport and I was well looked after by his family and stayed with them before the gig. After leaving it was really nice to know that I'd made some great friends in OZ.
As some people many know I do some work for a music promotions company. He have an annual event in Derby called Bloodstock and it was decided that it would be great to bring Danny over to the UK for Bloodstock 2003 and he could do some promotion for Eyefear while he was here and also a change to do a photo shoot with him and we had a flight budget of £1200.
Before Danny was due to fly over to the UK on the Thursday bedfore Bloodstock, he was getting over flu and so was a bit under the weather and also being detained by UK Immigration for a while did not help. Still we all went off to Bloodstock and all was going well but it was obvious he was not feeling well so we left on the Saturday evening. The next day he decided to fly home and was a great shame that he was still not feeling that well. Perhaps in hindsight we should have re-scheduled the trip.
We get did get some great pictures while he was here and they were sent onto him. Since he left we only received one e-mail and nothing since. So we think he had a great time in the UK and perhaps soon we will see them at Wacken.
As we know there are two sides to every story and this is for the record.
Cheers,
John.B
