Ive been growing my curly hair out for a year, I tend to have dry hair so I was doing the wash only method for a while and I switched to organic conditioners since I occassionally get eczema and I seem to break out with sodium laureth products after a while. So everything is good, I chemically straightenened my hair a few times this year (I know I know Damaging) but my hair usually bounces back with a curl anyways it just gets a little thinner. Later, as Im getting the 4-5 inch mark, my hair keeps falling out and its very dry. To correct this problem, I condition more, use various oils then despte the oils, I get dandruff (which I hardly have a problem with). However, today I break down and use Nizoral and a tar coal shampoo because my hair was really scaly, so I thought I might have Seborrheic Dermatitis, since Ive had it when I was younger. Wash hair, scalp feels good, my hair keeps falling out and my hairline is thinned out like half an inch. Im wondering it I should just cut it and start over since my whole scalp with be so many lengths after another year plus its thin now?
Advice please

You could try going for dreads, then you wouldn't have to worry about the whole dry hair thing and just go with it?
I work in Marketing. Not dress code appropriate. I don't think.

You have a lot of issues going on, which are overlapping. A combination of factors may be contributing to your problems. Since you have a history of scalp problems, I wonder if you might have an allery to one or more ingredients in hair care products. I, for example, cannot use any products containing balsam. You may need to seek advice from a dermatologist or allergist. Also, when you oil and condition, avoid getting it on your scalp, apply to the ends of the hair only, then gently work up towards the roots.
Avoid chemical or heat straighteners, they definitely do damage by frying your hair. As to cutting back and starter over, it all depends on how much damage. If it is really a lot, it may be worthwhile to remove the damaged hair. Otherwise, you may find that using s&d (search & destroy) with a pair of sharp scissors, and selectivelt trimming damage yourself, may be enough. For excessively dry hair, you may find the CWC method to work. You condition hair first, then wash, and condition again.
Don't know if any of this will help, it's all I could think of.

i have hair that is at shoulder length, this pic is is like 2 (14 months in pic after trim)months old. a fact even if your hair is dry like mine the oil that your scalp makes is better for your hair than any other oil that you put in it, fact is you can put in what you lost, you can only try to cover it up.
u will lose so hair every day, that normal,
i straiten my hair regularly, this is very damaging but does not mean you can't have long hair it just means you have to treat your hair like fine silk, don't pull or brush your hair ,comb very slowly and gently .
i were a shower cap to bed and so that my hair will not lose any oils and and mixing olive oil and conditioner really helps,
ps : petroleum jelly(Vaseline) found in grease and a lot of "black products slows down hair growth and make your hair fall out over time, the same gos for mineral oil. look for these in your products to stay away form.
i would say don't cut it, let it grow just be more care full
also if your hair is thin and falling out, u may be not getting all the vitamins and minerals in something try eating better and also taking a supplement may help .. when i eat flax seed and my vitamin B's i have a lot less hair falling out it also grows thicker.
just some things to think about .....
Yeah I guess Ill keep it coz it look worse if I cut it down. THe SD has cleared up mostly and after the initial fallout yesterday, stangely the amount that came out today was the least Ive had all year. So, maybe it will stop. Your right baout black hair products, they never worked for me either coz my hair is naturally fine and and spiral curls and it just feels like i put cement in my hair. My hair doesnt really relax either its like straight for 5 days than its almost back to normal. So im not going to use any chemicals again.
THANX
Your hair looks healthy, in spite of straightening it. I agree about the B vitamins. I eat a whole grain high fiber diet rich in natual B vitamins, and I have really noticed a change in my hair. The B vitamins make my hair stronger, and I experience very little breakage or brittleness as a result.
