I had a 3/4 inch trim last month and I'm definitely glad I got it. My hair tangles much less and feels much healthier.
My hair color varies greatly depending upon the lighting. The reddish highlights left from June's plum coloring are still very apparent in sunset lighting....
Whereas in mid-morning light, they're much more subdued..
My goal remains belt-length with a possibility that could change to classic length if my taper is not too bad should I be able to attain the belt-length goal.
The color variation is pretty dramatic although I wonder if some of that's just due to the camera handling colors and white balance a bit differently in slightly different light conditions.
Whatever the cause for the variation, great progress...
Good to hear the trim went well, Jason. That color really works for you, especially in the sunlight. Now on to your goal length (and beyond)! Take care. =)

Hi Jason,
As always, your hair remains among the best of anyone on the hyperboard. It is thick, very healthy, has just the right amount of wave, and the henna has given you such great colouring. Your ends are so thick that I think belt length should be a no-brainer for you as a goal, and classic length is be a distinct possibility.
You always have the best way of displaying your hair, in the great outdoors, the sunflowers in the background serve as a perfect backdrop for your red hair. Sometimes, I wish I had better display possibilities for my updates, but living in a condo gives me limited options, unless I go to the roof or something, lol!
Keep it growing,
David
I've got to use an Americanism (rarely used in the UK) AWESOME
I wonder now if I have spelt it right?) Nevertheless, I hope that it does not distract from my admiration of a set of superb pictures - with the promise of more to come!
All best regards.

Hi Jason,
As always amazing update pictures and just shows how the change in light conditions reflects on your hair. Did you go see Bruce for a trim?
I'm sure it won't be long before you achieve you goal and as always keep it growing.
Cheers,
John.B
Looks great as usual! The sunflowers are pretty too. I imagine you will be able to reach belt-length with little tapering. I saw a guy a while back with past belt-length hair with no apparent diminishment in hair volume toward the ends, suggesting a blunt cut at that length, looked like very quality hair, though lighter in color than yours. If you can do it, then all the better!
What a difference in the color in the 1st pic from the others, Jason, --- WOW!!
Personally, I like the more subtle plum color, rather than immediately after you first used the Henna. I toy with the idea of using Henna myself; but, so far have been too chicken to seriously follow through (lol)....
As far as length goes, my guess is that you'll probably easily reach your goal, --- no tapering evident so-far.
Did Franny take the pics? Please say hi to her!

Those highlights are fantastic, Jason. Your hair is so wonderful looking and healthy, absolutely enviable.

Hey Bro: Pics are excellent as always. I sometimes forget you're still on this long hair journey like the rest of us, as opposed to having "already arrived!" Hope you reach your goal of belt-length and hope I'm around to see it. (Not that I have any plans to go anywhere lol) How long do you figure it'll take?

Holy crap! I'm extremely jealous of your mane. :P It's in really awesome condition and looks fantastic, as always. I hope that my hair looks that great when it gets that long, or if it gets that long (I hope). Anyway, congrats on having such an awesome head of hear, and keep it growing!
Hey Jason ...
The color variations are phenominal dude.. I like how the differences are apparent depending upon the lighting.. As always; the length and thickness look great as well. My guess is you'll have no problem reaching belt length..
Hope all is well for you these days ...
Be Blessed..

It is very fun to watch your progress! You have some of the healthiest looking hair I've seen on this board. Just looking at the first photo tells me I really need to get a trim.
Your hair looks superb Jason. It looks thick all the way to the ends. You are certainly far from terminal length. It should be able to reach your belt at least. As for the plum colour, is it a henna of some type? I have heard that henna is good for hair.

Haha, the difference of color in those photo is very impressive !
Glad to hear that your trim went well. I was just wondering if I must go for a trim... Maybe...
Keep growing !

Jason looks your hair is still going strong! The color variation in the different light is amazing but all of the colors look terrific. I am glad that the trim worked for you.
You look like you could grow on and on, I hope you reach your goal. As ever, your hair is fantastic!
Thanks everyone for the feedback and compliments.
My girlfriend trimmed my hair last month using the method of putting it all in a ponytail and then lowering it down the length of the hair.
I took the photos using a tripod.
Belt-length on me is at about 40 inches measuring from the front hairline. I'm currently at around 27 inches. It could take me another three years to get there as I plan on trimming every six months. So long as I don't get bad tapering, I don't mind the ongoing growing out process. It's always fun to see the changes and that terminal length hasn't been reached yet.
I suspect the camera's picking up of the dimmer light at sunset does over-emphasize the differences in color. Still, there is a significant difference even to the human eye between sunset lighting and daytime lighting's effect on my hair color.
I didn't use henna. I used a temporary 28-wash plum coloring by Natural Instincts. As I mentioned at the time, the damaging effects are minimal because it doesn't strip the hair like dyes used to make hair lighter in color. My roots are about 1 1/2 inches now so I've been averaging the 1/2 inch per month growth rate. I have no plans to color again any time soon.
Your hair looks amazing as usual, Jason.
The different effects of lighting are interesting, and the hair looks great. I used a semi-permanent dye, for the first time ever. I used to highlight my dark blonde locks, but as I am having more white hairs coming in, I decided to brighten up the dull mousy color by going two shades lighter. while I like it, and it hasn't appeared to do any damage (I ignore the touch-up instructions, and don't pull through, as it's the repeated exposure to the peroxides that are damaging), I wonder if I can get the same effect using a temporary dye. I'm just looking for something to intensify or brighten my rather dull natural color. It was lighter and brighter when younger, and I have natural red highlights. I plam on going natural when my hair finally goes mostly white. What made you decide to try the plum color?
Carol
No Braids?! Just kidding! Wonderful update Jason, you have amazing hair. At some point I'm going to have to trim a little, and the method you described is about what I figured might be possible. I'm just nervous as a long tailed cat in a room of rocking chairs to give anyone control of scissors. (A long HAIRED cat in a room of cutting shears, LOL). Oh well , that's still a ways off.
Take care,
Bruce
