My apologies for taking so long to send Bill the pics from Sunday's free concert in SF's Golden Gate Park; but anyway, here's one to at least start of with... Bill will post a link to all of the pics taken that day; but at least you'll get to see part of our longhair meet-up now!

Photo seems to not be accepted by the system, for some reason... Anyway, I e-mailed off the whole group of pics to Bill, who said he would later provide a link so all can see them... Sorry about that!

Above are the five MLHH guys who went to the concert. From left to right, RickG, Steve Nova, Bill, Ken (Urban Cowboy), and Ken's partner Even.
Here are Even and Ken:

These are photos of the crowd and those taken from the road above the meadow:
That's a very cool bus!
Hey Ken, his hair is insanely thick. Those 2 braids are amazing. It must tie into a ponytail as thick as a man's wrist. His hair is incredible. Thanks for sharing the great photos, Ken.
Scott
Yeah, everyone seems to be commenting on how unusual Even's braids are. He is truly blessed.
I almost never have hair dreams, but I awoke having one this morning. We were at the concert and for some reason I had Even's two braids. Some bratty kid ran by and yanked on one of them and it came off. (Don't ask me how it came off, it's a dream, OK? I know hair doesn't just come off.) Linda (in the pic next to Even there) said not to worry about it because she could make me one long braid instead of two short ones. She interleaved the two and I had a braid that was five feet long. It was then lying curled around all over my legs as I sat on the blanket there. As I awoke, I was looking down at how awesomely long it was, and I was thinking, "This is really going to piss off Absalom!"
Bill
Hi Bill, a friend of mine had a similar vision about me and used a bit of photoshop magic.
Scott
I would get a photo taken and have a measure-off with that photoshopped you, but I don't think Even is gonna donate his braids! [g]
Bill
Hey ... great pics guys. And that is a heck of a lot of hair too! LOL :)
Tristan
I would have liked to come to this but public transit was overwhelmed, especially BART. The trains were crowded hot and humid inside, and heat is dangerous to my health. There was not even standing room in most of the cars.
It is sad they had to close the bridge for earthquake retrofit on labor day. They really could have done this retrofit work in winter when there are no outdoor events. I feel ripped off.

If you had even the slightest bit of a headache, you were wise to stay home. I was packed for SF fog, but we got scorching sun instead. Even with plenty of fluids and munchies packed, and some vended food, I still got a headache.
The direct sun, heat, light, and unusual atmosphere may have had something to do with it. Muni was definitely a hotbox.
Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't have done anything else that day; but these shows are not for the faint of heart.
It would not have mattered. As it was, parking places could not be found within two miles of the event. Had the bridge been open, you could have made that "four".
We came on the train and that was part of the fun. Half the people near us were also going to the concert, and we were all having a good time.
Yes, Caltrans flubbed closing the state's busiest bridge on that weekend. They did it on the same weekend last year because there were no major events, and they figured that would be the case this year without checking. This year there were a few Oakland A's baseball games, the Cal vs. Tennessee football game, and about half a dozen major fairs, as well as the Summer of Love concert. Nevertheless, the transit agencies picked up the slack quite well. Trains indeed were crowded, but most people got to where they wanted to go. Sometimes people missed a train or two because of crowding, but with headways running about ten minutes, the wait was not that long to get on one.
We were blessed with sun at the concert. We've only had two nice days like that all summer. I did get a bit burned but I never got sweaty or felt very hot. I think it was about 70 out there. Had it been foggy like today, the crowds would have been much smaller, because no one stays out in the fog for hours. It is just too bonechilling cold.
Wednesday and Thursday are also supposed to be gorgeous. Summer is coming to an end!
Bill
Woohoo ! It's fabulous to see such a lot of manes and beards !
I love the braids of Even :)
It's good to see that there is still "hippies" somewhere in the world ;)
Bye
Vivien
There are definitely hippies in the world. They came out of the hills and into town by the thousands to catch this event. The hippies were not all older guys who remembered the sixties, either. There were a lot of hippies in their twenties there, too. This means that when the original generation is gone, there will still be hippies!
Of course, different people will have to make the music unless they want to play oldies. Most bands have been greatly decimated by the passage of time now.
Bill
Hi Ken and Bill,
These are superb photos of your meet with one another. All of you look just great and you all have such fantastic hair as well. I cannot get over how amazingly long, and especially THICK, Steve's mane is, but ALL of your manes are A1 fabulous. Even has the most amazing thick braids in those pictures! I can see how crowded that event was, it was sure popular. Perhaps I will be blessed to meet up with some, or better yet, ALL of you guys in 2009.
My best to all of you,
David
I live in the SF area as well, my mom even went to that.
Hey Everybody,
Looks like a good time was had by all wish I could have attended.
At some point next year I'll get out that way amd hope to see many of you when I do. San Fran is one place I haven't been to yet.
Take care
Kevin
Wow those pics came out GREAT and what an awesome meetup of that many MLHH members all at once! All that hair!MY MY MY!LOL. Well I do give you all credit as the heat must have been tough and on top of it the big crowd but it looks like it was all worth it.Great pics Ken and a big thanks to Bill for getting them posted.Mark
It was about 70 degrees so there was not much heat, but the sun was strong, and by day's end we definitely felt it. There was generally a breeze, since the meadow is just a mile and a half from the ocean. Sometimes the breeze would blow in such a way that it would blow the music away, and we'd hear little. Then it would shift and we'd hear the music loudly. The breeze also blew lots of the pot smoke away, which could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on what you wanted. [g]
We were right in the middle of the meadow, which put us about three blocks from the stage. The meadow is about six blocks long.
The meadow, called Speedway Meadow, is the same meadow which the Human Be-In and many of the Summer of Love happenings went on in in 1967, so the event was held in a historical place.
Bill
Ken, Awesome dudes! Far Out Man!!!
peace, jonalbear
Wow!! I am just stunned by the gorgeous pictures! So much color and so much terrific hair guys! You guys look like you are having a wonderful time.
Everybody is in fine form here, everybody looks so awesome. Even has enough fantastic hair for two :)
Thanks for sharing these terrific pictures everyone, it's almost like being there!
I can't get over the thickness of Even's braids! How cool to have so many longhairs together at once.
Very cool set of photos guys. You all seemed to be having a blast!
So many longhairs in one picture!
All those pics are great, thanks very much for posting them here.
p.s. Sorry i'm not posting much, i'm a but busy in RL right now.
Brilliant! Nice to see so many long hairs in one amazing place. I've never been to America before but if I had to visit one place it would be the golden gate bridge - fabulous piece of engineering. And maybe I'd see some of you guys around!
Neil
Definitely look us up if you come to town, as David and Kevin said they will be doing! When we hear someone from out of town is visiting, we try to all get together and meet him, and that way we all get to see each other, too. There are about eight of us here in the Bay Area who have met with many of the others.
Bill
The sun looks quite bright and intense there. It must have been an effort to keep cool, as it looks as though it was hot. Blue jeans, tie dyes, and long hair. And to think I was just a 6 year old with a blonde pixie cut back then.
Carol
What wonderful photos! You guys are one colorful bunch of longhairs. :-)
Mouse
My God, there must be 20 feet of hair between the 5 of you!! Lookin' good and it's great that you can get together like that occasionally.
Take care,
Bruce
The five of you, and Larry too, are dressed for the event. The neat part is that it wasn't costuming, you were being yourselves. It is a wonderful photo in so many ways but the camaraderie is the best part.
Elizabeth
Some really wonderful pictures and great to see so many longhairs in once place.
Ken it's great to see a picture of you and Even and that's two very think braids in his hair.
Thanks for posting the pictures.
Cheers,
John.B
