Hi here is my hair before I cut it. As I said I was feeling verty depressed and fed up. I do miss my long hair at times. Anyone else been through this. I'm 36 in the UK
hey.ive had similar thoughts...but have kept my hair long,it isnt as long as your hair was but i can understand why you cut it.i do think you maybe should have dealt with your depression before getting the cut as this alone wont change much.
I've got to say it's a shame you cut your hair. I think it looked great but of course this is your choice.
Sometimes I feel life could be easier if I cut my hair. That I'd have to spend less time maintaining it and that it would be easier to socialise or get a job. These thoughts come about a few times a week...
But then I remember why I grew long hair. Because all my life I admired men with long hair and always wanted it myself. Because I think there's more to finding a girlfriend, socializing with friends or getting a job than the length of your hair. Because with long hair to me is a sign of individuality...
In the end, it is my opinion that although your problems in life may be slightly exacerbated by long hair, they are never caused by it. I do not doubt that an intelligent or charismatic employee will have no trouble finding a good job whether he has long hair or not.
In the end, you need to face whatever problems are causing your depression: the REAL root causes. Of course, I have no idea what your depression is caused by, but the likelihood is that cutting your hair won't solve the problem.
Whatever you decide though, good luck and power to you!
If it was a rational, intentional, forward-thinking decision Tom, then I applaud you for I know that the sheer history of one's long hair would be a huge deterrent to cutting one's hair once they (if they ever) chose to cut their long hair...
That said, the most noticeable difference between the two pictures is that you are smiling in the long-haired picture.
How do you feel now that it has been done?

As the other has suggested cutting your hair probably didn't solve any major problems, maybe some minor ones. I cut my hair in 2000, and I too began too miss my longhair. It wasn't until 2005 that I took the first steps to begin my journey again. If you find yourself yearning for long hair or at least longer hair than you have now, don't wait 5 years as I did. Do it when your heart says your ready. And believe me , you can't look for support from your family and friends. They will continue to try and convince you that short is the only way to go. You have to follow your heart!
Take care,
Bruce
Yes, I had waist-length hair in late '99 and early Y2K, --- then woke up one morning, "on the wrong side of the bed" (was depressed over several mid-life crisis issues), and cut my hair on the first day of summer, Y2K. A few days later, it's as if I woke up to a bad dream, regretting it deeply (and I do mean, DEEEEEEEEEEEEPLY)... The good that came out of it, though, was that after that experience I learned the value of not making impulsive, risky decisions without a lot of careful contemplation, --- and made myself a COMMITMENT to grow my hair back long again, and to become a longhair for life.
We are all different, though... Not everyone regrets cutting their hair; but, if you do, just reassure yourself that it is growing, --- even as I type this reply!
My best to you!!

Sorry to hear about your depressions, i dont think cutting your hair is the answer though - hope you grow it back
That was superb long hair and looked ever so great. It is easy to see why you miss it now. Oh well, in 3 years you will have it all back again and know next time what a haircut does to you.
Best of luck to you in growing it long again.
Hi Tom,
What superb long hair you had before you cut it! But you WILL have long hair again. All of us have done things we regret later, which makes the determination not to do the same thing a second time that much stronger. I DO hope you grow it back again!
All the best,
David
