I have shoulder length hair, which is normally fine but this weekend my friends decided it would be a good idea to try and dreadlock my hair. It went hideously wrong. I managed to remove the tangles but the half tub of dax wax they used is another matter. I cannot get it out of my hair. I have washed it 6 times but it is still as waxy as ever. Any suggestions for removing it please cos i do not want to cut my hair!
I'm never going near hair wax again.
Three options. You can get a salon to fix you up for like 50 bucks (if you decide on this, do it ASAP or the wax will harden beyond repair!), or get a haircut, or further dreadlock your hair.
I agree, get professional salon help ASAP. Ask around to find a good one. Regarding dreds, once you get them you are stuck with them. They are very harsh on your hair. Sometimes you have to cut them out to remove them. I personally wouldn't get them based on this reason. They are hard to reverse. Let us know how you make out.
Good luck.

Dude, you still got a prob with ur hair???
This is what the hairderesser told me to do:
Put some build up remover on it dry ( this means do not wet you hair before you put the remover on)
leave it for like half an hour min
then wash out with hot/ warm water
do this bout twice
and it works a treat for me!!!

Buddy - you need palmolive. soak your hair in it dry - trust me I'm a dax wax user (short hair) then wash it out ...repeat if u have to.

Check the archives. I do not remember exactly when it was, but there was a post a month or so ago. It had a link to a web site that gave detailed instructions on how to remove the wax at home without damaging your hair. I think corn starch was involved.
